Schneider O/O or Company Driver - Which is Best?

To anyone who cares to know. I just signed on with SNI as an O/O and here's my take on it and this is after talking to quite a few O/O - L/O there as well as my own recent experiences.

DO NOT GO ON THE MILEAGE PROGRAM! I'm seeing it first hand. I'm on the mileage program and it SUCKS! Go on the Choice Program or don't sign on at all. It's that plain and simple.

If you go on the mileage program, you'll have to deal with Workflow and it's truly a pain in the butt. Also, Schneider's after hours support team really sucks. To be completely honest, there's one guy there that is totally cool, gets things done and knows what he's talking about, but that doesn't help when even he admits you're are extremely lucky to get through on the phone and get to speak to him.

I had a load to went from Rialto, Ca. - Phx, AZ. and I know I didn't come close to breaking even on that trip thanks to a blow out on a trailer tire.

Anyways, this is what I'm currently seeing, hearing and experiencing. I'm not that impressed. Swift's after hours support is way better that SNI in my opinion.

 

Are you saying you had to pay for the trailer tire?
But anyway, what kinda rates does Schneider have? I'm really curious, because their choice thing sounds good, but only if their loads pay anything.

 

Schneider paid for their trailer, but it's all the downtime and not being able to get in touch with after hours support that really is the problem.

From what I've been told repeatedly, you have to get on the Choice Program to make any kind of money. The biggest issue with getting on the Choice Program especially if you're based out of the Fontana OC is that SNI only allows a few drivers in the Program per month and there's a long waiting list.

I couldn't tell you what the rates look like on the Choice Program seeing how I'm not even set up to look at that information, but I've spoken to enough O/O's that have said, that's the program you want to be on if you want to make any kind of money.

 

Thanks for the reply. I'm an o/o leased on to a flatbed outfit at present, but I really hate it there. I actually applied at Schneider and they approved me and all I'm just trying to figure out how much of a paycut I'd be taking. If any.

 

Why won't anyone answer about Schneider's rates? Is it a big secret? It's been asked about on several threads but not even those of you that work there will answer. Wtf?

 

Is this still the case 5 years later?

 

I honestly couldn't tell you as I have moved on since 2012. I'm kinda curious about this too since the ELD thing may cause guys to speed things up a bit. But then again if you're making that big payment on your equipment you shouldn't be told how to drive.
