It's been my exprience that near all "health nuts" are mizerable people to get along with; always paranoid, always trying to "make me better". Heck with y'all. I eat whatever don't run fast enough, sleep as much as I want to. Wuzzat? I'll die? So will you chuckles. At least I'll be happy and well fed. Plus my dead butt will make better ecological food for the worms and grass than the poor starvin critters trying to pick a meal from your skinny carcass.:biggrin_25525:

On the other hand, when I did flatbed all those years I used to loooove you exercise freaks. Was always one or two of yas around who just were as happy as heck to show me how easy tarping, etc was when you was in shape. Oh, I was properly impressed an all and yessir I'll think serious about that. Funny buy y'alls never noticed that you was doing it for me.... for free. :biggrin_2559:

A fox lives by eating vegetarians and critters that run alot. The fox don't get old by worrying about what he eats, he gets old by being smarter than his food is.:biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559:

Everyone has a tight to their own opinion. The OP was asking a serious question. Since they got some good advice, I think it's great that you up and offered the opposite.

Now, I don't know about you, but as a person walking around this earth in a fat suit made by such unhealthy choices, personally I do what I can to eat right, lose weight safely and maybe avoid Type II Diabetes. For some crazy reason, even though I know I'm gonna die, I prefer it to be later, rather than sooner.

I guess it just depends on if you got a reason worth living for. I certainly hope you do, and if not I certainly hope you find one.

Until then driver, just remember you can't make near as much money when you're dead. :biggrin_2553:

I keep a cooler with apples and plenty of water in it, whole grain bread up with chips. I will avoid truck stop food, unless its country pride or iron skillet.

Boy, you've got alot to learn. For example, to know when somebody's messing with you.:biggrin_2559:

But thanks for being a prime example of what I said about the Health Nazis. No dang sense of humor atall.:biggrin_2559:

You guys would live longer and live better if you'd just lighten up a tad. But nooooo.... you got a mission.... being a pain in the tookus to everyone around you. Ever notice how many atheletes wind up with serious health issues in their 40's or lower?

And before anyone pops up with "We'll wind up paying for your poor health choices", So What? MY tax money's been paying for your silly butt since you was born. You owe me. Payback is a beach ain't it?:biggrin_2559:

    Nah, I know when someone's bein' stupid...I mean joking around. : )

As for being a health Nazi, all I can say is as bad a shape as I'm in, I've been called a lot of things in my life - but this is definitely a first! I just try not to eat poorly anymore. If that makes me a health Nazi, well grandpa, pass me the Grape nuts and call me Yule Brenner. :D

Now what you're saying about athletes is truth...sadly that's a fact when you push you body beyond its limits daily for most of you life.

I don't know about being on a mission, but I do know when a driver asks for advice and I just happen to know a bit about the subject, I'm gonna share...kinda like how some people like to pipe up when they don't have a clue, but they have an AGENDA...like bad mouthing people who take care of themselves or making fun of people who eat well..or hell - did you know some people even toss out the word NAZI like it's just another word? It's the God's honest truth driver...some people are just so self conscious about their own bad habits, that they just gotta up 'n rag on anyone GOOD habits.

Well, keep it between the lines however you gotta, driver...I promise I won't force feed good food down your throat as long as you don't try to get me to eat bacon-wrapped fried Twinkies.

    Fair enough? ;)

Buy a $5 Subway footlong. Divide it in thirds. Eat one third for each meal.

You will eat cheap, healthy, and loose weight!

I find the Pureprotein bars to be the tastiest. I don't live on them but find them to be a healthy, light meal substitute. I get mine at Kroger for a dollar each.

Since cutting out all my previous late night snacks(I have banished Little Debbie from my life) I will now have a protein shake for bedtime snack. The selections are endless and price varies greatly. I finally settled on Kroger brand vanilla shake. Only 10 grams protein(half of some brands) but inexpensive and satisfying.

As a seasonal treat I have been packing fresh tomatoes from my garden which has been abundant this year.

I am jealous of home-grown tomatoes! The blazing heat here nixed most of our garden.

No biggie driver, eat whoever.... oops... I mean whatever you want :biggrin_25522: an I'll do the same.:biggrin_25525:

Just a little story for ya. I had a bud who was a doctor. Runs, exercise, "good" foods an all that. Was always after me to join his lifestyle. Well one day he had a massive heart attack (at age 40). I hadn't seen him in awhile and he was back home from the hospital when I found out so I stopped by. His wife said he wanted to see me and ushered me in. He says he wants to thank me for saving his life. Say What???? "Oh Yeah", he says, "I was really down, thinking this was it. Then I thought of you.... and that saved me." "Oh yeah? Howzat?", I asked warily (I know this wiseask). "Yup, I thought of you standing over my casket with that sh-- eating grin and said no way. Not gonna give you the satisfaction." :biggrin_2559:

Losing weight and improving your overall metabolism and health on the road can be as simple (for a start) as just giving up sugar. I cannot weigh in on most trucking issues because I am not yet a trucker, but I can add input on things I do know about. When you eat sugar, it elevates your blood sugar. Elevated blood sugar cannot get used up quickly enough by the body (unless you are running a marathon), so the body turns it to fat (as a storage medium for later use). The same occurs with the so-called "white carbs" like potatoes and bread. These carbs turn to blood sugar, spike the blood sugar as if you ate a bag of candy, and then get converted to fat. In summary if you really want to lose weight in a relatively sedentary job without experiencing hunger pangs, you can do so easily with a low carb, low sugar diet.

With that said, I know many people will be resistant to this information. If one was raised on Mountain Dew and snack cakes for breakfast they think I am somehow insulting their parents by suggesting such a breakfast is less than healthy. Others are like addicts in regard to blood sugar spiking foods. I don't know how many times I have heard, "I can't give up soda-pop", or "I can't give up ice cream." That's fine. They should make peace with being overweight.
