I believe a pilot would tell you that you can get all the way to your crash site.

i run a tri-axle live floor and my company refuses to buy tires out on the road if we get a blow out they just have us limp it to the near tire shop and have em single out the tag axle and eventually we'll make it up to the shop maine dot mass dot and nh dot know we do this and they dont like it but none of our drivers have ever gotten a ticket

Hey roadmedic just how far are you willing to drive with a blown tire? If it explodes in front of the tire shop would you pull in? What if it's on the ramp 300' from the shop? What if it's 1/8th of a mile? 1/4, 1/2? Just curious because we all know moving the truck at all has the potential to kill millions right? You probably subscribe to the "80,000 missile" thought process don't you?

I had a blowout and immediately pulled to the shoulder to see the damage. After making sure what tire was blown and nothing was going to fall off the truck, I got back in the truck to determine where the next exit was, where the truckstop was, or somewhere with a phone book for getting road service.

I then limped the truck down the interstate with the flashers on at 45 mph. I went maybe 25 or 30 miles that way. Then found a fuel stop with road service.

Since then, when it blows, I stop.

Everything else you listed is just baiting someone. You have really no idea what I subscribe to.

i agree with roadmedic; if u blow a tire so long as it's a dual, u can limp it on in somewhere to get it fixed; sitting on the side of the road is a hazard regardless, with a blown tire on a dual is a hazard but if u can limp it on in to get changed out then u eliminate the chance of causing an accident, but if ur running those God awful super singles, well then ur stuck, cause once u blow one, ur there regardless til it gets fixed

Well since I own the equipment I choose what I do with it. If I can limp it I will, regardless of what your green book says. I believe most O/O's and seasoned vets will do the same no matter what they post online. You can say whatever you wish on here but when your in the middle of no where with one blown tire (especially out of 22) the only thing you'll be using that precious green book for is backup toilet paper.

Do you believe it is possible for a tire to blow and you not be aware of it?

You can do whatever you want.

I will do whatever I want.

Find someone to argue with, is your goal.

if ur blasting ur radio or a low tire yes it is possible. i had the tread come off on a recap on the tag axle all the way in the back of axle of a tri axle trailer and i heard it come apart not loud but still heard it....funny thing was it was still aired up i pulled over checked it out then jumped in the truck and to the shop i went 33 miles to be exact and that was running at about 60-65mph. it was STILL aired up at 95psi when i got there
