I just blew a trailer tire two days ago and had no clue. Car came up beside me and gestured to me. So, I pulled into the rest area to check it out. Sure enough, inside sidewall of a trailer tire was trashed. Still had the tread and outside wall in tact and riding on its bead. Never knew it. And if it weren't for the car, wouldn't have found it until my post trip.
Blown tire: how far do you think I can drive?

I've blown tires and knew about it and some I didn't. But for people to make a HUGE deal about it is laughable. If I have one blow and I can avoid waiting on the side of the road and paying double you can bet I'm going to do it. These nervous nancy arguments might have more merit if they didn't say stupid things like "you drastically overloaded the remaining tires" when the math says otherwise. Maybe I'm a minority but a couple hundred pounds extra (but still under the max for the tire) isn't a big deal. Especially when my permits allow 17,000# on my steering with 12,000# tires if I choose.

1° before the OP started driving again,he allready knew that the remaining tyre was runninng hot.
2° i don't call running at 60mph limping it.I would call that more in terms off a hail Mary whereby you never know the outcome and all is based on pure luck.
I agree that sometimes in life there are risks one must take. But if you do that ,at least do a calculated risk.
Don't depend on depend on dumb luck.Because as we all know if you do that, one day your luck runs out.
And i'm not talking about accidents.
Think what it would cost if the second tire blows and wrecks his hose holders, mudguard and other stuff around the tri-axle. -
.....ur fired

Since we're beating this topic to death I'll throw a few more little green book tidbits out there since some don't read it (the forum is fun though! ).
Rogerthat Thanks this. -
I didn't make it because of luck. I made it because I had 11 other tires on my trailer, not 7 like most of you. Never a doubt in my mind

Yup,this fun.

42,000# on 12 tires = 3,500# per tire.
42,000# on 11 tires = 3,818# per tire.
even a light 12ply tire is good for 5,600.......3,818 is severely overloaded and prone to explosion? Kind of a stretch isn't it?Rogerthat Thanks this. -
big sigh...
