secured?? lol. rubber mats under them is all you get. we haul them ,alot, from our warehouse. put a couple in front and then space, with maybe 4 in back. I try to put straps in front of rear rolls. those things can weight around 7,000 lbs each.
    BE VERY WARY !!
Charlotte NC , has some real sharp corners on it's ramps off of I-85,I-77 and I-485. watch the signs!!!!! it says 30, go 25 !!!

Who thought it was a good idea to put rolls into a van?

I've hauled many of them in vans and containers.

When I was with SNI, Charlotte was my home OC. Charlotte has got a number of tight ramps that will eat you up if you're not careful.

This is very, very sad. One dead, and the driver injured.

In addition, I'm wondering what possible ramifications this may have if SNI is cited for "improper load securement". If this snowballs, the shippers of this type of load will have to revamp their load securement strategies.

I, too, have hauled a number of paper roll stock loads over the years, both on the side and eye-to-the-sky. Never had a problem.

Gonna keep watch of the news about this subject.

Trucks have hauled rolls in vans for years, seen too many have problems but they keep on hauling them.

Our company policy is to put two straps, 1 on top and 1 on bottom before the four in the back. It won't hold in case of roll-over, but it should be plenty to keep from going forward in case of hard brake.

It is very sad that the female driver died. RIP.

Not too many ways to load paper rolls in dry van except the way they do now.
