If your running a truck with auto shut down and it wont idle no matter what the trick and gimmick are with the cruise and clutch and wait for that light. would you buy a device to make it keep running?
I am running a columbia for an outfit out of MN and she runs 3.75 minutes and she is done. i was a driver in the 90's and been a repair man all my life and am a diver again. and i have an idea and going to make a device to keep the truck running. so if you could keep it running would you buy it? i cant sleep when i am hot so i don't get a good sleep and i am a danger on the road if i am sleepy and fatigued,i know i am not the only one.

Just about every carrier that has auto shutdown has a way to detect excessive idling when the system is overridden. Excessive idling could result in termination or being charged for fuel . In states with anti-idle laws the driver could also be fined hundreds of dollars.Don't like auto shutdowns ? Don't work for carriers with trucks that have them.

I'm driving a 2013 Volvo which shuts down after 5 minutes, but discovered that if I watch the display it warns me at about 4 1/2 minutes it's going to shut down. I hit the fuel and crank it up to 1000 rpm and shutdown is cancelled.:biggrin_25519:

i had a mechanic tool that was used to hold the steering wheel for an alignment. you push the shaft into the brake pedal and the hook up to the steering wheel. it holds the brake pedal down. truck don't die.

another trick was to use the trailer brakes instead of the tractor brakes.

this was on a freightliner dump truck. so obviously if the pup wasn't hooked up. you couldn't use the trailer brake trick. unless the truck was chalked. but good luck on a hill.
