Yup, a cheap pair of walmart of the rack glasses would do wonders if u have the restriction on license

I wished they would enforce, the "must communicate in the english language " rule, with the same intensity as the glasses rule.

    07-379Pete and Meltom Thank this.

Agreed on the English Language deal.

I would say for the cost of the glasses you could just get your license corrected.

Not to co-op this argument, but I had a guy at C&S in Hatfield who could not speak English at all trying to make a delivery and couldn't understand the clerk telling him that his PO did not have an appointment scheduled. That should NEVER happen.

But, back to contacts. What if he's wearing contacts. Is the officer allowed to force him to remove them and reinsert them to satisfy his belief on whether he has them. A simple check of "how many fingers am I holding up" from a good distance away should suffice his check on whether he's complying with the requirements of his CDL.

The problem with the officer was not that he was being a dick about the corrective lenses, but probably the nonchalant attitude of a driver rolling 1k pounds over on an axle.

what gets me is that i had my medical card and my long form from a week prior signed sealed and delivered from the doctor. i wouldnt have gotten this is my eye sight wasnt correct. yes i had my lisense restriction removed afterwords. And on the csa it says driving without a commercial driving lisecnse. oos. I wasnt put out of service. he let me drive away. So theres gotta be something that can be done. im just trying to save my job because now my compnays pressing me to get it removed. Ive tried a few avenues and they get no where. my boss even said there still looking into it because my personal record has nothing on it but the companys has this driving without a cdl. So there not allowing me to work until its fugred out. in the meantime i got hired for shoprite. so fire me if u must ill make more money elsewhere and itll still be on there record. and how does not having ur medical card merrit only 1 point and this is 8. i mean u can fail ur physical fail ur eye test have diabetes yet say oh i forgot it. and get 1 point?

and i wasnt nochalant about rolling over the scale heavy. i knew i was heavy and spent 30 mins sliding axles trying to remedy the issue. when the company only cares bout maxing loads at 51k an overweight here n there is gonna happen. If the load isnt centered on the flabed just right then it may be over. and since i picked up this load in relay i couldnt have it adjusted. The dot cop i think his name was cooper was just actling like king ####. nothing new.

they don't need to show fingers. just look at the eyes. it's not that hard to see contacts.

I suppose that the real lesson to be learned here is to NOT RUN OVERWEIGHT. Much lower chance of attracting attention at the scale house if your axle weights are correct and you're not over gross.

It must be something about Maryland. I got waived to the shoulder by a DOT officer coming out of the toll booths at the Baltimore tunnel. After checking my lights, tires, and load securement he comes up to the door and asks for my medical card. He said it was because he just had a guy that was supposed to wear glasses and didn't have them on. I always thought it was funny because I did have glasses on, what was he going to do write me a ticket for wearing glasses when not required to have them. :biggrin_25512:

Funny thing is I had started in Blacksburg VA at 0700 and delivered 3 stops of a 6 stop load and was headed just north of Baltimore to a drivers house to swap that load for an empty trailer. So I could go get load a good load for the weekend. (Because the next drop on my load delivered Mon. morning around Baltimore.) It was around 1600 when I got stopped and my log book was still blank for the day. I was sweating bullets, but he never asked for my logs, just my medical card. Then he sent me on my way. That was the day I quit running my log book so fast and loose.
