30 min is not a problem, most trucks are now nutted down, so you are going slower than the posted. so drive the 30 but take it off on your logs and you get 30 more miles in. LOL

One has to wonder how drivers ever got anything done from 1939-2003 when there WASN"T any 34 hr reset provision. I spent the majority of my trucking career NOT having a 34 hr reset provision as part of the regulations. All we had was the recap. The crowd that thinks not having a 34 hr reset is going to be the death of trucking just shows how short of a time they have been in trucking.

Look. I like the 34 reset. This new 168 hr thing regarding a 34 reset is just a road bump. And, as has been so aptly stated many, many times..... if you are sitting around so much that you are able to do more than one 34 reset with 7 days, you really need to look for another place to work. You are not doing yourself any favors by staying where you are.

Those on paper, that is a good way to do it! Kinda like the way everyone (at least most everyone) has done it for decades. Just divide the number of miles driven by a certain speed and log the time on paper. If you don't gain that 30 minutes, after you get out and go take a squirt, you will have 30 min off duty quickly enough. And, even if you don't do the calculator thing, just rounding down on the 15 min increment on the log page when you stop, get out and squirt, and round up the 15 min when you go back to driving line...... you wouldn't be stopped any more than normal to relieve yourself. This is soooooo easy. And they say trucking is a difficult job!

See.... that is called using that grey matter between your ears! Is it totally legal? Of course not. At least the calculator thing is somewhat questionable. But it sure doesn't even come close to stuff like multiple log books and other stupid things. It is difficult to detect, even by the most anal of DOT cops or an FMCSA audit. And the 15 min round down, round up thing, no one would ever be able to detect that and be able to put someone in violation.

Of course, children, this does not apply to those on EOBR. Whether that is an issue, one has to decide if it is worth being with a carrier that uses them. No one is forced to work anywhere. So don't waste your time crying in your beer on this forum about the 30 minute provision since you are WILLINGLY with a carrier using EOBR. By the way, I am using an EOBR, I like it, and I am not losing any sleep whatsoever about the 30 min break provision. Some jobs are just not for everyone.

My wife is kinda like the Government, Say my Check is 1000 dollars at the end of the week. She cashes it, hands me 200 bucks and keeps the rest. then tells me to get back out there and make more.

ummmm, i'm not sitting around. but i still need a 34. teh hours are gone and i'm stuck for 48 hours without that 34.

that's right folks. 3 computer programs and the recap don't happen till midnight on the NINTH DAY.

70 hours in 8 days is how the rule is written. we use em up in 6 days.

Just turn that 30 min break into a 2 hour break than do the split sleeper and you don't lose ANYTHING!! I just get so amused how many drivers biotch about not being able to stop the 14 hour clock because they want to take a nap during the day but don't know how to do a split or better yet have never heard of it.

2 hours off duty or sleeper or any combation of the two plus a separate 8 consecutive hours in the sleeper. 2+8=10 same as doing a 10 hour break and you will now be 30 mins ahead of the guy that took just a 30 min break than a 10 at the end of the day.

    http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regulations/topics/hos/index.htm

    Sleeper Berth Provision
Drivers using the sleeper berth provision must take at least 8 consecutive hours in the sleeper berth, plus a separate 2 consecutive hours either in the sleeper berth, off duty, or any combination of the two.
