Age required to drive a GVWR @23,000 lbs truck?

    my son is 17 and just got his DL,our company truck is GVWR @23,000 lbs. can he drive it.

    I believe he would only need a CDL if the vehicle gross is over 29,000#. I may be wrong, because im only 17 also. If i remember right, then thats what it is.

    26,000 is the magic number to require CDL. Check your state requirements.

    Check your state, but in most it is legal for someone at least 18 but under 21 to operate a CMV Intra-State.

    For Inter-State operation of a CMV (over 10,000# GVWR) the driver must be at least 21. (391.11)
