If you get your passport, twic, and hazmat with TMC you get more points toward your certification therefore you make more $$$. They eventually pay for themselves and then some. Only makes sence to get them all
Tmc now requires drivers to get passport and port card

Personally, I think if your a company driver and they say you have to have it, they should pay the fee!, I know they wont, just my opinion, some one mentioned an enhanced DL, what is this?, I've never heard this term before
-
I think TMC should pay up front and if you leave within twelve months then it needs to be paid back by you. I have my TWIC and Pass card, I had a Security Job working the Ports in Indiana and it was required. The Security company paid for it, and as long as I stayed a year I would not have to pay for it. I left after nine months and under very good terms so they did not charge me for it. Even though I expected to have my last check missing $132.50. So I guess my good work ethic with them paid off. I understand peoples gripes on both sides of this issue. But I lean towards the company. Why should they pay and you up and roll a month later. Hence my reason for saying let them pay and you stay a year. Would that be considered fair?

Thats not a bad idea Colonel B..
When I signed up with TMC, it was stated on their website that it was required. I decided I wanted the job so, I got what was required to get the job. The way I look at it is this; if driver A doesn't want to get Hazmat, TWIC, PASSCARD, Doubles, Triples or Tanker endorsments, that is fine... I will get them and be more marketable. Plus with the TWIC, Hazmat and Passcard I will get that load that Driver A won't because He don't have the required endorsements or cards. Just a different way to look at it I guess but for me, it is about getting as many loads as I can get while out on the road and make as much as I can. -
i agree with ya sheepdog. I had the same thoughts about that as well. In this economy a person needs a edge on the other guy-and if that meens getting the passport ect then its worth it to me

so tmc requires ALL drivers to obtain these three items.

i just checked into it just in case. for a twic you can pre enroll you make appointment at location close to you. go there process takes 10-15 minutes they take photo you pay . its 156.00 or around there. if you already have your hazmat you get a reduced fee of 132. and some odd cents. it then takes 8-10 weeks before your card is ready you then go back to that location to pick it up. info can be found at
www.tsa.gov/twic -
Most drivers don't have passport, twik or hazmat. They would like u to get it, but most don't. Ur husband would be able to make more money with Canadian loads though. I average 900/week after tax. Loads going into Canada pay really good.
-
sometimes a canadian load is just not worth the headache no matter what it pays the driver.
going back to a previous members statement and my statement/statements in this thread:
if you drive for tmc you must have the following:
haz-mat end.
a u.s. passport
and a
twic card.
will the management of tmc enforce all the fleet drivers to obtain the following three items since it is now mandatory?
corrective action taken against the driver-and/or-fleet manager.
18 wheels and a dozen roses seems like just yesterday i parked my 379 and walked away.Last edited: Aug 8, 2012
