..... So if you guys owned your own truck you would delay a delivery, get a load refused, lose money, and get a bad reputation because you can't go 1 day without a/c and wait until after delivery to get it fixed???
BoyWander, Joetro, cowboy_tech and 1 other person Thank this. -
since the load was never paid for. then the guy doesn't get paid. plain and simple
he's paid on percentage. and 0 percent of no pay is ZERO.
and the money you wired him. is now considered an advance on a pay check he scre4wed himself out of.
he got paid and really has no recourse. and you got screwed. ((suffice it to say)))
we just went through the same ordeal. somewhat.
driver picked up load but never showed up for delivery. he was found in a truckstop where he had been for 7 days. drunk as a skunk. and truck litred with alcohol bottles. had to fly another driver out to grab the truck and make delivery. -
Mine went out this past week. I stopped at kenworth on Saturday picked up all tthe parts. And had T/A install and charge it up. Said bill was about 750 bucks. But I had working air for me and the wife.

Always two sides to every story, so I did a little check up on ag services, seems like the truck in question has been inspected a few times with DOT and not in the best condition. Perhaps the driver was done with running a clunker.

The whole " being late" thing is b.s. They'll make you wait around for parts of two days doing reefer, or spent 10 hours unloading you, counting every item, but god forbid you are 1 hour late!!!!!!

First 7 years I drove I never had a/c in the truck. We hauled steel around the rust belt and sat in hot steel mills for hours too. Yes, it is nice to have A/C, but things do happen and here was a owner who was trying to work with the driver to get a load of Produce, very time sensitive, delivered on time, keep the driver as cool as possible till repairs could be made, and driver still took a crap on him. Some folks are just losers!
When my dad taught me to drive he told me this.....1. Never be late to pick up or deliver a load. 2. Wait till your load is off of your truck, if you can to make repairs. 3. Make sure you have a load set up to pick up before you worry about getting some sleep.G/MAN Thanks this. -
Most drivers NOT ALL but most drivers today are just steering wheel holders. All they want to do is get in the truck and hold the steering wheel from 9 to 5 then shut down and do it again the next day. They piss and whine about miles but don't want to put in the effort to get them. Want to get paid for every little thing they do to make up for what they don't do. That is why so many companies give the driver a extra day or so to make deliveries. They can't hump and get it down the road like they need to, in other words keep the left door shut and the buttons pushed in. Trucking is not a 9 to 5 job it's long hard hours and you need to be a team player with your company. They work with you, you work with them and in most cases they will take care of you.
One of my drivers a/c went out about a month ago, we told him to get a motel for the weekend put it on the company card. Come Monday morning he checked on some shops around the area and called me and told me to get him a load out of there that he wasn't going to sit for 2 days waiting on a shop to get him in. I ask if he was sure and he said yes so I got him a load made arrangements with a repair shop where he was unloading at to get it fixed and put him in motels when he shut down for his break till he got to his destination.
