-
Thanks for the update guys. JT

Yes but noone in my class is going for the oilfields. I dont know how many positions there are available.
jtanner10 Thanks this. -
just got into lancaster. saw a rolled over oilfield tractor. hope the driver made it out ok. it wasnt pretty. noobsticks and smooth-bore tankers, is a bad combo imho. without knowing the particulars, but drawing from 10 years of operations in a tanker carrier, it would seem driver made a left turn too fast and the tank surge put him in the ditch. remember to take those turns nice and easy. if you miss your exit get down to the next one and circle back. better to be late then dead. be safe out there!

Wow what a mess. Hope the driver is OK!!!

sounds positive im glad its workng for you. like you i have a CDL going there for a refresher and to learn something new that might just make my job easier and safer you know. i might be interested in the oil field work as i have nothing keeping me in Virginia, i live in the metro DC area, i have a home with 4 roommates so they can just put the money in the bank. Like u too im 57yo, i ran regional back in late 70s working for anchor motor freight a car hauler, pulled out of a gm plant in tarrytown,NY ran northeast regional and into ontario, van plant..things have changed i gve my cdl up when i went into the navy in 1977, got it back in 2007, LOL,
so its works for you there u got ur cdl so u were under the pressure the other dudes had. there trainors are good? thorough? professional...i have read threads that say its a pretty good situation. and in reality its best to stay with anycompany for one year dont be a company hopper you know...
well shoot me mail -
The training here at FFE is excellent. The trainers are top notch and you actually get lots of chances to learn and practice here. It has been alot of fun, but they are really serious about the training. I am thankful for that. I think that you will have a wonderful experience here as well. I do not know how the tanker thing works at all. I wish you the best of luck in whatever you decide to do.
