I don't think all food service companies are like that. Our divers are local so they are home every night and the pay and incentives that they get allows them to earn crazy money. Of coarse they do work hard so it's not for everyone, but average bring home for a average driver that works say just 40 hours a week could bring home 1st year upwards of 60K or more.
Time for a new job, Sugestions????

If you had 15+ years pulling doubles, working 14hrs a day 5 days a week, driving driving 550-650 miles a day and spending the rest on the dock youd be pissed. When right across the street literally ups is paying those same drivers $80,000-$120,000 a yr and they do even half as much work.
Yes its better then nothing but not what those drivers are worth.

no they all hate it here, but their stuck, they'd have to take a pay cut for a few years to go somewhere else and most live beyond their means so they cant afford even a small paycut never mind going from $22/hr here to $17.50/hr at UPS (takes 3 years to hit top pay $27.xx i beleive)

This probably won't be a popular opinion on this forum, but if UPS drivers are making $80-120K per year for 10-12 hours of work per day they are over paid. I am sure those positions could be filled with drivers that are just as professional and safe for $75K max. That is a lot of money. There are very few jobs in the trucking business that pay that well. I don't think using this as you baseline is a very good idea.
If it is your goal to work for UPS, do everything you can to get on with them. It would seem that this is more of a long term decision because you have to work your way up. -
they are union what do you expect lol. I dont want to work for UPS i just use them as an example since there are literally across the street and do the same thing we do. But any of the other LTL companies pay signifigantly more money then they do here to their vetran drivers.
I'd rather work for a small company.
i donno what i wanna do yet. I miss OTR, i kinda like how much simpler life is when your OTR and that i can just pile money up. I donno, i just dont know lol This regular sex is nice too soo yea...lol

Food service work isnt fun at all. constent drops all day start time is really early and possibility for injury is pretty high if youre going up and down a ramp all day. my first job was doing that and i ended up breaking my leg on the ramp for little pay. Now i make over a dollar more just driving and i get to test new trucks for work
