    And having that diesel in your cab can get strong. I hate when that happens.
    I had this very thing happen to me when in west Texas once. Opened the door & the wind pulled it out of my hand so fast & hard it actually sprung the door hinges & that door never did seal the wind noise at the top of the door from that day forward.

    Put a 2x4 in the center of the door opening with the door open and then give the top a couple good shoves, this will get the top seal to hold again.

    Workman's compensation, and disability insurance are government funded. Maybe that is why. I knew of a woman who made the mistake of attempting to sit on a broken office chair. The chair back support came apart and her falling weight drove its shaft into her lower back area. She required surgery and is collecting disability payments now due to this job related injury. Imagine what a fall from a huge tractor onto and into who-knows-what could do...

    I doubt it.

    Getting in and out of the truck, and especially out, is when most injuries occur.

    I have had my foot slip on the way down, but because I had two hands holding on I wasn't hurt.
    All it takes is the toe of your shoe being the contact point, instead of the ball of your foot, and you will probably slip.

    And guess how much that will cost you, your company, possibly your insurance, your family...

    3 points of contact is one of the most important safety rules in trucking.

    I was climbing out the truck hastily after fueling once. I had some diesel on my shoe and it slipped on the bottom step. Thanks to my hands being on the hand rail and door, the only thing bruised was my ego.
    You might feel dumb getting in and out of the tractor that way (at least at first) but not near as dumb as you would calling dispatch to save a load because you screwed up your ankle and couldn't push the clutch.

    Courtney here fractured my tail bone when I slipped and fell from the doorway of an old Kenworth years ago, was laid up for 6 months couldn't sit had to stay in bed. It hurt lots, could have been worse could have cracked open my head.

    Ouch!!! My wife did something similar but luckily didn't end up getting hurt as bad as what happened to you. Nonetheless you need to really be careful out there even when you aren't driving! Especially in the winter and in places known for high winds.

    Lol I did that... I used 3 points but missed the step.. instructor laughed hysterically at me. I showed proper way to do it, just missed the step. It happens to the proper ones too.
