When I worked in Las Vegas our company had the contract for Costco. They had (2) 20k regular, and (1) 20k prem tanks. There were 4 stores, and we would go to each location 2-3 times a day with a 11,500 supertanker load. very easy drop. you would take a full load of 87, or 91, and you would double hose, and be out of there in 25 minutes.

Costco wasn't around when I was there. But yeah that's how we did most of our drops too. That's a lot of product being sold. You must have had the same problem we had with getting in and out. It's nice when the station mixes it's own midgrade. That takes a lot of headaches away from the driver. Before when CALNEV was there you'd be loading midgrade and the rack would go down. You'd have to figure out what you needed to make the mix right. And then when ethanol was only used in the winter that was a nightmare. I don't know if they still do this but the ethanol was not injected proportional to the gallons of gasoline and if the rack crashed you may have 30% ethanol and had to fix it. They told us it had to do with temperature of the ethanol and would cool the product much different than what the meter read. I know that ethanol is a huge problem for the gas companies because you can not store the ethanol mixed in the above ground tanks and you can not ship it through the pipe. Maybe they have found an additive that will allow them to mix at the refinery but I haven't heard yet. And then some genius came up with subgrade gasoline.

Thought id pass an update, working here in central Florida, things going well, company is happy, i'm not the fastest but average about the same amount of loads the other drivers do, no pressure, working nights love that no traffic, also haul JET to the airport which is a pretty sweet run, i did get splashed in the face with about 8 gallons after a compartment got pressurized, company took good care of me, my eye got scratched after my dumb ### used a clean absorbent pad to get the gas out of my eyes, company was supportive in showing me where i messed up and it really scared the crap out of me, and had the safety manager watch me from a distance and was happy with my safe operation, i take my time and double and triple check everything, lost about 10 pounds, money isn't bad, long hours but i definitely don't mind the job at all, thanks for everyone's advice

I haul gas in kc we get paid by the load and hooking up 2 vapors and dropping 3 to 4 products i can deliver a store in 20 min but get your routine down and speed will com later

Max gallons are usually 8500 and that will take around 30 mins to drop. All depends on the customer and how their venting system is working properly.
There are no short cuts so your boss doesn't know what he's talking about. There are many variables so just take your time and this is not a time to rush. -

You are right about weight. Texas is strict about weight and loads. 8500 gals is tops but many will go over 9000. If you do 12000 plus...all I can say is WOW. I've seen doubles tanker trailers especially going to truckstops. Amazing how things are different elsewhere. good luck with those gallons
