Hello fellas! I've been scratching my head on this issue, My Celect is a red top 500 and boost tops out at 20 if I'm lucky. I've been local driving with it for the past 2 years, and not once I've tested its limits. :D I asked another friend with a similar engine but lower HP and he can boos 25-30. and he runs around me on a leveled road. Could there be something wrong with my turbo?

    More details
Freightlier Century N14 500 celect +, fuller 13 spd RR, 3.55 rears. Boost gauge is not stock, its an autometer ghost series using a 1/8 tubing to a 1/8 npt port on top of manifold.

Please let me know! happy labor day weekend.

Try checking your cac. Pressurize with fittings as far away from cac as posible. So you can check your rubber junction boots at same time.

Go to home depot and get pvc plug drill and tap quarter inch pipe make sure to use air regulator and no more than 10 pounds of pressure. I think its 3 inch but measure pipe. Put ballvalve in one end and pressure gauge in other end. Pressurize shut off ballvalve. See if pressure drops if it does spray everything with soapy water.

you should be getting more boost than that. I had an identical engine, but set at 485 and I would get between 38-48lbs of boost depending on outside temp.

You could just look at the cac for cracks. If you find some then its probably time to replace. Saves you from having to go get fittings and what not.

No more than 10 psi? if he wants to see if it will hold 40 psi thats what he should put in it. My ACERT makes 50-55 psi of boost, when I tested mine I put 60 psi in it.Although I wasn't using PVC. I started @ 30 psi held for 20 min. increased to 40 psi held for 20 min tried to increase to 50 psi, but when I got to about 45 psi it started leaking at one of the hot side boots, replaced the boot and both clamps started to increase again but a cold side boot started leaking at about 52 psi, replaced that and got it to 60 held for about 15 min. (dropped to about 58 psi) no bubbles anwhere.
