Yes, the older ones were GM Blanks...but that all changed when Daimler Chrysler bought Freightliner. Now they are Chrysler blanks.

I have been practicing this for years, I do it with my 4 wheelers too.

Yup, my first experience with an Orange Century back in '00 had this issue on the passenger side door. I felt like the Fonz if I hit it just right. [IMG]

I thought w/Freightliners that you could use a hanger to reach through the window and push down the button on the armrest that opens the off-side window. Wouldn't that be the easiest way? Haven't locked myself out yet, but my company gives 2 keys and I usually carry them both. My trainer's opinion was that trucks are usually stolen by somebody breaking in and finding an extra set of keys.
The problem with hangers, though, if that even if I had a metal one -- which I don't -- it would undoubtedly be inside the truck, where I'm trying to get, rather than outside the truck with me. Hmmm....

Stranger,I don't have to post what you did, I was reading everyones locked remedies until I got to yours, thats exactly what I have done for years to help drivers. I was surprised to wait that long to read it. Just duck tape a key under your truck or under your hood and never get locked out and stuck.

    Uhhh...

I've locked myself out of a Volvo.

I foolishly always left my spare inside the truck, thinking there was no way to get locked out.

I had a bad habit of locking the door and slightly bending the key as I pulled it out of the keyhole while stepping down off the truck. One morning it was really cold, and I tried to lock the door and quickly get into the truckstop, I bent it one last time and SNAP! I was standing locked outside of a Volvo. And those Volvo keys are heavy-duty expensive micro-chip things!

I eventually managed to get in thru the passenger door by pushing the broken half in the hole and pushing in w/the other half.

I also saw a U.S. Express driver lock himself out of a Volvo, actually his dog locked him out. We spent about 45 mins breaking in thru his side window by removing the pin from the hinge above the window. He also had to cut the screen to get back in.
