    A 300% margin? Wow.

I have heard that they use around .25 gallon per hour, which is 3 gallons per 12 hours.

Yup, Carrier is a good APU, but like a CAT engine, it breaksdown... and 400 dollars later it still ain't fixed(Sarcasm, of course.).

TriPac seems to be the best and most favored in the industry. Go to their website. Seems to to the best job cooling as well as heating. Thats what I'm putting on my rig.

The PowerCube APU has been around since 2007. It has a 6000 watt generator, and puts out 30,000 BTU heat, 24,000 BTU air conditioning. It's an independent systems with it's own HVAC and a digital controller that allows auto-start on low battery, low temperature and more. I work for Tridako Energy Systems in Alliance Nebraska where the unit is manufactured. Paul A. has been generous in his praise of the PowerCube APU, now this message hits the MN Governor's blog. Read this! http://mn.gov/governor/blog/the-office-of-the-governor-blog-entry-detail.jsp?id=102-38037

Holy Cow, where did a 300% margin come from our competitors? The PowerCube uses .14 gal/hr.

My Carrier(2007) 30,000 BTU A/C last time I checked... Not sure on the heat, haven't used it yet.
Doesn't matter in 105 degrees, it will feel the same.

I'd get a PowerCube from what you said about fuel, but I'm pretty sure after Boyd tries to fix a "broken" condenser it will mess up forever.

    How much does one weigh?

Cat engine runs at 2800rpm, 500h oil lube change. From farm tractor experience, not a super high hour engine (15,000h). Looks like a every other month oil change (8h/day), might want to cut that in half or change the oil when the truck oil is due (keep things simple).
It looks like a Cat engine could be a Perkins and then, that could be Chinese anyway. Carrier is running at 2400rpm and a 4000h warranty. Carrier is made by IMPCO and are cheaper than Willie. Willie does more (their large unit), but at a rumored $11,000 it better. Willie has the best engine, a Kubota that runs at 1800 rpm and has an air compressor that can give your leaky air ride redundancy, if not more. Willie does not claim to be California compliant. I'd still change the oil on all of these at truck oil change intervals. They all need inspection at that time. There is warranty and reality. If you have only one truck, reality trumps warranty.
Well I'm looking at Carrier and an aux electric airpump. I'm outfitting a truck for a 20 year old. Instate for a year then I'll bet he goes to see America.
