Got a magnum radio.

I have a magnum s45hp.. always get other drivers asking me if I'm on a base station..lol.. had it about a year now.. talks real nice.. I know its not a S6..but never had a problem out of my magnum

 

Magnums are "Hit and Miss" sometimes you get a good one, sometimes you get a turd...Last one I had ended up being a turd the size of something King Kong would have dropped!

 

I have an S-3. It's been a problem child until recently. I can't remember all the problems I had... but there were many. I finally took it to Q5 in Madison and they found a bunch of cold solder joints from the factory. Works pretty good now.

 

You fellas with cold solder joint Magnums, how old are your radios/when were they built?

I happen to have a Magnum 257HP. I like it except....it seems to draw a lot of current on transmit, and for some reason on sideband, when you stop talking, the radio continues to modulate. You have to unkey to get it to stop.

Someone tried to say mine might have cold solder joints and that's why I keep having problems.

Also the internal speaker sucks but that's an easy fix.

 

I think I bought mine in 06 or 07....? Lost the receipt some time ago.

 

I'll fan the fire... stick any Galaxy beside a Magnum and just see which one has the better receive... Personally I like Magnum and never seen or had a bad one, maybe I'm lucky in that aspect. Anybody that doesn't like their Magnum, maybe we can make a deal?

I've always been a Galaxy fan, up until they crapped on Ray. At that point, I kinda lost my love for them.


OH, plus 1 for the Predator too... best antenna ever built.

 

Ray was a definite asset to the CB hobby and to Galaxy as a business.

 

So what ever happened to Ray?
