why are you where you are?

I haul tanks vans refers hoppers dumps flats well every kind of trailer but soda delivery wagons.
I will give trucking before I ever go back to hauling any kind of freight.

It was luck and planning that got me into the wagon dragin buisness 17 years ago.
It is like any other sector in trucking there are slack times and ups and downs.

I have not had any one complain about getting their trailer yet no matter when I get it there .
No appointments no alarm clocks and no waiting on a door or a dock worker just drop it over there driver and have a nice day !

As you can tell I really love my job LOL!

 

i started pulling dry van, then tried reefer (couldn't sleep) then went to flatbed which is what i wanted to do from day one, more exercise and open deck is great even tarping isn't bad,

i lucked into flatbedding when i got the chance to buy a maxi set and it went from their and i may go back to hauling them in the future im pulling a stepdeck now and equipment is fun, going to run some canada and alaska runs and see how i like it up their

 

I am seeking to return after decades away -- very directly targeting fracwater vacuum tanker in shale oil as that would suit me "to a Tee" but looks like I will have to go to company sponsored training at major carrier .... for which FFE runs that like I want and is clean drop&hook work at a company I can understand, in particular recruiter has not wasted even one second of my time....

I dunno..Cause God hates me? 10 years ago the sawmill I was working at was having hard times financially i.e. I never knew when payday was going to be...So I took the first job I found driving a straight truck everyday to the Twin Cities..Not a bad job really,in fact it was kind of fun..which is a good thing cause it didn't pay much..Well this company had 3 semi's which pulled curtainside trailers and one of the driver's broke his hip falling out the back of said trailer..They knew I had my "A" so I filled in for him...When he returned the Straight Truck job just wasn't the same..And that was the beginning of the end for me.

Since then I have done and still (occasionally) pull dry-box,did ONE refer run for a friend of mine (we are friends NO more) but for the most part pull flats,steps and occasionally an RGN trailer.I prefer to pull flats but as many times as I have been asked "why" I really don't have an answer for this..It must be the Winter tarping I like so much..

 

I've been there and done that with reefer , van , and hopper bottom before ending up pulling tanker about 8 years ago . Tanker is much better . Loads are by appointment and usually take less than 2 hours plus a lot of drop and hook . Trailers are dedicated so if I unload I head home . Less wait time means more miles in less hours . I can gross just under $1500 in less than 65 hours .

 

i first got into van from school. then i did reefer, and hated it. then i did flatbed and hated that. so i'll stick with van for another 8 to 10 years and RETIRE..!!!

well God likes me....but he still doesn't like me enough to let me hit the lottery..>!!!...

 

Don't worry, it's not all it's cracked up to be. I hit the Power Ball this week.
Literally just the power ball number. Four bucks. Oh well, I tried.

 

Hmmmmmmmmmm..got started in 89 and after schooling NOBODY would hire me (not even Swift) because of my employment before I went to CDL school. There wasen't no internet to research everything so after making up a fake resume I ended up getting on with ol' yellow doors, OTR a few years then local. Stayed there 16 years and made pretty good money. Left there after giving them my 12 hour notice and went to where I am now the next day. Better pay and benie's. Got layed off from here and did window hauling for a bit, didn't work out so they got two weeks notice. Went to a food grade tanker company and was there for a couple years. Good pay, excellent benefits, good people to work with but horrible hours. Got called back to where I am now so gave the tanker place a little more than a months notice. When I was at JB I actually thought I would retire from them because it was not a bad job. But as luck/fate would have it I happened to be at the right place at the right time and thought (where I am now) this would be interesting and something somewhat different.
