i also learn to look at pin while its in hole.if there,s a gap on backside of pin ..with tandems brakes on only, pull forward a little.if gap is in front..go in reverse. sometimes the pin is jammed.also heard if you spray soapy water on rails that it would slde easier( not sure since i,ve never done this) hope this help. btw... a hammer works too lol

This ... if the handle pull out, but the pins don't suck in, just go rock the trailer, that will generally do it .. I've gotten int he habit, that when I stop, I drop it reverse adn give it a nudge before I go back adn pull the handle.

    No.

It's where you want the weight to be as to whether you pull forward or back.

He's talking about the space between the pin and the hole, nothing to do with weight.

I have driven 2 and 3 axle reefers and my trick works almost all the time. Get the truck and trailer straight and level (if possible). Drive straight forward at 1-3 mph, and pull the trailer brake. As the trailer stops the truck it "rocks" back and forth a hair. This centers the pins in holes.

The only times it doesn't work is if the pins are bent or on snow and ice. That's when I use the hammer.
