I have heard nothing but bad about them here. They're affectionately known as Heartless Express. Although, what's bad for one may be great for another.

pilottravel2002 you hit it right on the sweet spot. not enought miles. managment sucks and the worst part is they dont care about the drivers hours and they try to force you to run illegal.

Mostly heard bad about Heartland.. I happened to meet one of their drivers some months back, and he wasn't happy working with them.. the management is not good, equipment is only fair, loads of extra hours, and not enough time to get home regularly.. they treat their drivers like dirt..

i had a friend that worked for them for a couple of years, he #### near lost everything he owned while he was with them. He has 10+ years experience as a OTR driver, so he knows how to make money, but just could not get the miles.

a lot of sitting, with no detention pay, they will short mile your brains out and relay the hell out of the runs with any decent miles. The only way he made any money was those few weeks they'd bounce him all over hell and creation east of 95.

the equipment is top notch shape, due to all the time you'll spend in their inspection lines, on your time.

3 to 5 weeks out were the norm, and that was regional.

He handed them their keys about a year ago for a local gig, and just now is pulling himself and his family out of near bankruptcy. Heartless Express fit's them to a T

I too had a friend that drove for them....he basically said the same thing cheeseburger just said above. Only thing I can add to his comment is, my friend told me Heartland likes to fuel at their terminals as much and as offten as possible, so there is a lot of "out-of-route" miles to get you to a terminal (then back on track to your destination) that you DO NOT get paid for. And, if a terminal is not close enough in THEIR eyes, they will tell you where to fuel, and allow you only enough fuel to get you closer to one of their terminals to top off the tanks.
Also keep in mind; every time they DO get you into a terminal, regaurdless of how offten....they want to inspect your tractor and trailer---friend told me a fuel stop can take two to three hours minimum because of that, and you are forced to log 'on-duty' for the time you are there AND they still expect you to deliver on time.

Sounds like I'd pass on these guys......but you do what you want.

that's true if you drive into any terminal even if you just pulling in to turn in a trailer and you only drove from across the street and have your full hours. forget about it your gonna be sitting in the expection lane all day and as your sitting in the expection lane for 8 hours they will turn around and force dispatch aload on you and have youd drive all night while you have not even slept an hour. cheaters liers and scammers heartless true colors are out.
