He'll have to look at regional and LTL jobs. Most companies offer regional now.

Since he is a new grad. Have him check with Coke or Pepsi, he'll have a better chance against experienced drivers believe it or not.

In 2 years it won't matter...........

Honey, it doesn't matter how many times you ask the question or how you reword/retitle it, your gonna get the same answers!! Better to spend your time on the phone calling companies instead of trying to find somebody to tell you to 'go to XYZ company and tell them Jim-Bob sent you and they'll set you up'.

Can't expect to OTR and be home every weekend. The job just doesn't exist. Maybe look at regional or a dedicated route. So many people ask the same question only to get the same answer.

Amtrack, through all of the posts, we know that btc was listing it as a voluntary quit, and that he has an interview with Averitt. The process goes like this: You apply to companies that accept student drivers for example we will use Averitt. He will apply online, and he has to list 10 years worth of employment because of homeland securities policies now. Averitt will do a background check by calling employers and verifying the information, criminal background check, along with pulling his mvr, dac, and csr. If all checks out they call and schedule him for orientation. He goes to orientation for 3 to 4 days, and then he will be put with a trainer for 4-6 weeks in most cases, and once he is done with training he can get his own truck. The only place that I know of in Tennessee that accepts student drivers and that have regional or dedicated runs is U.S. Express. There are lots of companies that will require them to be out 10-14 days at a time. My best suggestion is to do some research online by typing in trucking companies hiring in Tennessee, and there will be sights that will help you find companies that you are looking for. It just means filling out the application one time, and it sends it to several carriers with the requirements you are looking for.

Actually the job does exist. Living in tn check out Epes. We have quite a few drivers living there. Outstanding company and they do hire students. I'm home every weekend getting good miles and made just under 44k first year. Those jobs are out there you just have to do the legwork to find them they don't come looking for you the way the bottom feeders do. It's a smaller company and very family oriented. I'm very happy here and we have a small terminal in morristiwn and a drop yard in gallitin. If you have specific questions about them pm me I'll be glad to answer if I can.

We would love to go with epes but they don't accept his school so he is going to have to get 3 months experience first :( and I've tried Googling this some people do know of mom and pop companies that don't have it in the internet or Google didn't bring it up
