Geeezzzzz, Not Swifts day. I wonder who's at fault? Did the EMS pull out in front of the truck?

Can you imagine how this driver feels knowing that this accident cost a person's life...how sad. I wish they had given more information, but it looked like by the impact that the ambulance was pulling out when the driver hit it.

From the videos and pictures, I would tend to agree. However, the accompanying story states that the ambulance was en route to the hospital at the time of the accident. That would lead me to speculate that it turned into the path of the truck.

To me looking at the pictures they have posted with what they said about the passenger side having been hit, it looks like the only way that could have happened that way was if the ambulance was either turning in front of him going thru the intersection or was continuing thru the intersection going straight and came across in front of him. There are skid marks it looks like and some fluid that start in the 3rd lane and heavier in the middle lane, so maybe he was in the 3rd lane and she turned in front of him. It is a daycab and his passenger side hit the ambulance passenger side. Wonder if she had her lights on, and if she went thru a light it looks like a pretty busy intersection at least the way the truck was traveling.

It didn't say anything about the driver being injured, he must have had his seatbelt on at least. I just hope they will be able to prove that perhaps it wasn't entirely his fault if she did pull out or turn in front of him.

    I saw this on facebook.

The ambulance is from South Carolina and went to Monroe, NC to pick up a patient to return to South Carolina.

Most likely, the ambulance was keyed on concentration as to where they had to pull in and failed to check before turning.

Lots of conflicting info about what the ambulance was up to. One story I found says they had dropped a patient off earlier, got lunch at a nearby restaurant and were leaving the restaurant at the time of the incident. Terrible regardless of who messed up.

    not this time

"Early Thursday evening officials said the driver of the ambulance, Jonathan Cory Brown of Cheraw, has been charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle."

..."Witness accounts and evidence show that the ambulance entered the intersection at Venus and 74 while the stoplight was emitting a steady red light," said Monroe Police Department Chief Debra Duncan.

    Anyone cam make mistakes.
