Oh gotcha. We dont have a 2nd and 3rd shift. We got the 7am bid time... then theres the 8pm guys which is for the shape up(meaning might not be work for everyone or just extas) and then theres the 9am bid time. Besides the switchers and the dock guys thats it. Road drivers come from the bigger hubs. YRC says its better that way so who knows.

Im in Westchester County, we do the Bronx, parts of Manhatten, Lower westchester and lower fairfield counties

Gotta say three months into ltl and im really liking it. 12pm start time doing the afternoon pickups, some times deliveries. Then back to the yard around 6, drop my loaded grab a empty and run the night shuttles, drop and hook pickups and late night live loads.

The bad. Realizing after the run of picking up a half loaded trailer then filling it out at a live load i was grossing about 85,000. Thank god the pa turnpike has no scales. The last minute dispatch changes. Being a late start guy i do the cleanup work for the day guys so i get sent all over the place. No set route.....yet. Gotta put some time in first.

Btw i work for new century outta westampton, nj.

Well, working in Utah, my outfit was not union. And since trucking is EXEMPT from a lot of the labor laws, we did not get overtime, no matter how much time we worked. All of the outfits (at least that I'm aware of,) here are that way.

There like this in jersey too. Overnite used to not get overtime then it went to after 48 hrs then to 45 but now ups has them so I'm sure they get it after 8 hrs or 40. Conway was like that too I'm not sure how they are now.

UPSF is overtime after 8 hours, at least by me, they have the same contract with my local as we do. CWF was after 8 and after 40. That was nice but they would never want to pay it out. The old TM there would have another driver come in and he would drive him down to your truck, have him finish your route if needed and would bring you back to the terminal.

FedEx Ground theres no Overtime at all. Since either you work for a contractor or you own the truck. Owning the truck your paid by the package and service, and if you work for one your paid a straight salary, it was awful there

You want to learn about why you don't get paid overtime at some companies read up about express carrier legislation.

Why did you not allow my post? Anything that goes into the political regarding unions, is never to be heard from again. I stand by the post that you deleted.

I have worked for both union and non-union LTL. Everyone always says us union guys do NOTHING all day and get paid for it. The non-union is WORSE then some of the guys I work with
