Wow. I've only been driving a couple of months and even I know to verify the route to the destination instead of just expecting the GPS to take me there. I've had a couple of places that even Google had it wrong. Guess you must be one of the "experienced" drivers.

I have Allow Freeways set on using the 720. Should be the latest mapset and it still routes me away from the 93.

Settings are Auto Recalc, Fastest Route, Allow Tollways, Allow Freeways, Avoid Uturns, Avoid Ferries, Avoid Dirt roads, Allow Tunnels, nothing on the Avoid list and Fast Recalc. Vegas to Phoenix.

The only reason I bring this up, and I know someone posted that this is not truck route, is that there has been other routing ive recieved from Werner, that when I was able to manually manipulate my route, I get way different times, quicker than "Fastest Route". For example, going from Las Cruces, NM to Roswell, NM, why even on shortest, does it try to avoid US-70 through Ruidoso. That makes the trip 100 miles and 1 hour shorter. Instead tries to go up to Vaughn then back down. I checked for restrictions on it and didn't see any. I do know there is a pretty decent climb as I did take it.

Just want to know why it decides to take certain routes.

It does that with a TA in Baltimore, it will take you into a Cemetary with a dead end if you follow the directions. However if you pick the icon on the map for the TA "The little Wrench" it actually takes you the correct way. Google maps on sattelite view is a good tool to make sure you dont get into trouble sometimes.

This is being posted out of desperation. Just received my new TND720, & am planning on taking it out on the road with me Sun. I desperately need my address book transferred over from my 700. When I connect my 700 to the 'puter it locks up & crashes the computer. I then have to restart the computer & use the reset to shut down the 700. The 720 however is working flawlessly. I have periodically backed up my data from the 700, but was told (by Mark) that I can't use the restore feature across models. Are the files I need to move my address book in this backup & if so how do I access them? I don't know where in the bowels of my computer they are located or if they would be of any use. RMN support is closed for the weekend so any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA, Corky

Mark can do that. He transfered mine from my 500 to my 720, by using a program that gives him access to your puter, remotely.

Yes.....but my old unit appears dead in the water. It still works for navigation, but crashes the computer( & itself) if you can do anything Mark I would be eternally grateful.

Try this.. turn the 700 off and then connect it. Then turn it on. You might try another USB port also.

I posted this in another thread.

That would sound like a program conflict. Uninstall the RNDDock and see if it still boots up without the TND connected. Then power on the TND and connect it to the computer...

    Thanks,
    mark
