Don't let office decisions make you guys miserable.I started off with Schneider,but they do not care about any of you.
Ive said it over,and over...Look around,see how many drivers they pizz through monthly,weekly.
It is a starter mill,thats its.
The choice program is no better.Don't go there,either!Ive got any facts you need,just let me know.
I work for a GOOD company now.

As yall kno i went thru the 2 1/2 day orientation and hired on experienced... i finished last Wednesday and was too start on this past Saturday... my brother is a meat cutter/butcher.. the machine he was running malfunctioned and he ended up with his entire hand cut off..he was life flighted to duke university in north Carolina...my dbl made me leave that first Saturday i started and said family comes first and foremost... by the time i got back from north Carolina my dbl knew me by name as well as my brothers...they were very concerned about him as well as me...btw they were able to successfully able to replant his hand after a 14 hr surgery although he still cant feel it we have high hope of a speedy recovery... Anyways i think Schneider may not have everything as right as every person may want it but if they can manage to know my brothers name and continually ask about him and wish him well....then their alright by me...Glad and Happy to be a part of the Schneider family

Couple of questions if you guys can help out that would be cool. First has anyone been to good year in Dekalb IL? Just wondering if there is anything I need to know or is the truck entrance easy to spot. Second is how closely do I have to follow this NAV system we have? It took me on a crazy route today made absolutely no sense to me at all.

 

The Navgo is not that dependable.....Take that atlas out and make your best decision...

 

Yea, Navigo will route the shortest possible route for Miles while avoiding every toll road in the country. You can run 294 around Chicago and the EzPass will cover all the tolls. Just blow by in the express lanes. Navigo will never route you that way unless it really is the shortest way to go. It always tries to route me down 94 through downtown during rush hour when I come off my TAH every week. I just ignore it and either keep hitting Reroute and ignoring it's new route or leave it sit off route until I get to the south end.

I have been to that Goodyear in Dekalb, but it's been a while. Been to a few places out there. If you get there and need to take a 10hr break you can park in the Oasis on the Tollroad just west of the Peace Road exit. I think that place also has a lot of SNI dedicated drivers running for them so you might even be able to chill there for a night if needed.

There is no requirement to follow Navigo at all. You don't even need to use it if you don't want to. Just remember that your Quarterly bonus can be lost if you don't hit at least 70% of the fuel stops they give you and if your OOR miles get to more than 10%.

The more you drive the more you will come to learn the best ways to get around the country. Not only from personal experience, but from talking to other drivers and listening to the routes they take. If all else fails turn on your CB and see if any local drivers can give you directions to the place you're trying to find. I've had to do that before when I found my self at an address that didn't exist and Navigo was off by 3 miles. Luckily I just happened to have my CB on and a local driver saw me sitting in a parking lot looking lost. He gave me a holler and let me know where the place I was looking for was.

Now for the Idle Issue:

I talked to my DBL today. He wasn't sure on some answers but he agreed with some of my opinions as well.

For a 34hr reset he isn't sure what is going to happen there. Ideally we would be doing them at an OC so we could go inside and not sit in the truck for 2 days. At this point he hasn't heard or been given permission to expense hotels for drivers stuck on a 34 in the middle of nowhere. So some how our batteries are supposed to last through 2 nights with no time for charging.

For the shutting down in traffic thing, he agrees that it might not be the safest thing ever. Now, he also said that it would just mean leaving the truck shut down while not moving and then waiting until we start moving again to fire it back up. This seems like a good way to start frying starters. Lets start an engine 50 times just to save 5 bucks on a gallon of fuel. Then drop several hundred when that starter is toast by the time you get out of the traffic. Also, the batteries are not going to have enough time to charge up in the 4 minutes between shut downs. So now we are not only cooking a starter we're also draining batteries to critical levels, again, to save a few dollars on fuel.

A smart person who travels in the northern states carries some cold weather gear and food/water with them. If you truck and bunk heater both die in the middle of Montana and it could be a while before help makes it there you should have the necessary equipment to stay warm. I carry plenty of blankets, jackets, and other things for winter weather. Bunk heater repairs will be expedited over all other things in Company shops and in getting to an outside vendor for repair. Worst case, you get a company paid stay in a hotel for the night until you can get the truck to a shop that has the necessary parts to fix your heater.

The Temperature sensor deal was apparently dropped on him last week with no warning. He knew about as much as I did from reading the flyer on Crossroads.

I'll get to let you all know first hand how it works since my truck goes for PM on Tuesday and I'll likely have the sensor installed when I get it back.

Well I finished yesterday with the 2.5 day orientation in Edwardsville. The Days Inn wasn't too bad at all. The only real complaints I had was with some of the guests going room to room all night on Tuesday, and the breakfast. They have cereal, fruit, toast, and donuts. I frequented the Mc. D's across the field every morning. As far a being a dump, it was just an average budget hotel, nothing fancy, but pretty well clean and maintained. Also, if you stay here ask for a room on the back side if you don't smoke. We were on the front and every time someone went out to smoke our air conditioner sucked in the smoke.

I kinda liked the 2.5 days orientation better than a week. The days are long, but you don't spend a lot of time being bored in the hotel. Plus OSR (if that's what they still call them, I can't remember,) Steve was the best OSR I ever dealt with. I also like the CBT A LOT BETTER than watching video after video with lecture after lecture.

Though there are some changes I don't like/agree with, I will say that I'm glad to be back at Schneider.

I shouldnt let my distain/hate out on the interweb.
The Schneiderization I recieved has left me toothless,as I havent stopped grinding my teeth since.
