lol, bill pretty good observation. i see some of these posted and pull from the same spot and know the rate isnt what is posted. i just go for steady over flashy.

autocar, perhaps menlo has more to do with the stryker rates than does mercer, the rates on military are bad .

oscar and i must operate a lot alike, i am making money, not getting filthy rich, but turning a good profit. if i can keep this up at this rate and then the economy does pick up, i will be so happy i will sit on my hands to keep from clapping.

some guys are their own worst enemy, and dont know it.

Menlo has nothing to do with Strykers or any other DOD loads, that require security clearances to haul. They are strictly done by tariffs filed to DOD. Agent shows me the DROs.
Arms, Ammuntition, Explosives, FAK requiring TPS (Transportation Protective Services) and most unit moves are not covered in the Menlo contract. They are all mostly done by the local Transportation Officer.

I finished up about 1pm yesterday and got on the board. I need to get home so I was willing to take anything not to sit.. By 3pm I got a load paying $2.05 to columbia, sc. that's close enough and I'm rolling. I'm home now it delivers Monday am. I need to take care of business Monday afternoon. I'm matched to two loads for p/u tue am. I'm #5 and #8 on the other.

I have to say there are no locked doors any where at Mercer. I had free roam. That says a lot.
Ironically Landstar called me yesterday and said Hi your approved! I submitted my app sept 4th. I said thank you but no thanks.

no locked doors? we got a wall, coded door, and some plexi glass separating us from dispatch at my company... LMAO... I always stick half of my body through the window they talk to us through when ever i go in to see dispatch (it's big enough for a grown man to fit through). I think it's pointless, but after watching how some drivers act/react when told they're going somewhere they don't want to go, it kinda make sense to have something to at least slow them down.

If he stays through the winter, he'll be here a long time. Practically everyone that gets the system figured out, becomes diehard here.
It still amazes me how well it works when a company just lets each O/O do his own thing. Even the lazy seem to find a spot here, just look at me.

    OK
delivered my first load yesterday and scanned the bills at the loves right after. I had to go take care of some stuff so I drove up to Fort mill, SC 80 miles and parked my truck by my wifes office and got a ride home :) .
My coordinator called me 30 minutes after I unloaded and offered me a load to CT loading Wed. I took it because the loads I wanted I missed because my phone switched everyone to voice mail.
Anyway he said it paid $2.55 p/mile 813miles 20,000lbs no tarp, do I want it? I said yes. He transferred me to the agent I asked if I could get in tomorrow(today) and deliver early. She called me back in 10 minutes with a yes. So I loaded today with 7 pieces @ 12,300lbs bonus I was expecting more. I offload tomorrow early afternoon.

    2 loads so far
    498 @2.05 $1020 spent $232.69 fuel
    813 @2.55 $2072 spent $590.58 fuel $125.00 tolls

I did a play by play for you peeps on the fence. Any questions just ask. Im still learning this system so be easy on me.

Oh and I made it a point to say I scanned the bills yesterday because I got a message about noon today that my load I delivered yesterday was settled and paid out
