Well guys I'm fed up with LTL. Think I'm going back to dedicated OTR. Consistent work and paycheck. Know when my days off will be and no more slave to the phone. Going to interview on Monday. Pays 1350 a week. 5 days out 2 days home. Same every week. I don't make sh.. at Reddaway and I don't need the stupid free benefits. Already have them through my wife. I'm pretty sure I'll be laid off from the talk I've been hearing. Guess I'm one that can't stick it out. After trucking for so long, I just don't have the patience for this. Starting at the bottom and not knowing what's gonna happen from day to day is just not for me. If I was younger and didn't have responsibilities I'd stick it out. This is my second time working for YRC and I'm sick of them.

@Cool35 I think Im done too. Everyone on friday were complaining they had too many stops they couldnt even get off since they laid ppl off and people were off on personal days. Im gonna try for the DPW in my town as well... they are teamsters and because I am already in the teamsters they might just hire me

Yeah with Christmas coming up and my daughter in college, I need a steady check. I think ltl is one of the best trucking jobs out there but it's just not for me anymore. At least not right now. Maybe after I move to Texas I will give it another shot.

I agree with you cool35. If I were you I'd be scared to death to work here. I got nothing/nobody, I'm gonna stick it out just because I can. Also, I only have 1/2 year experience (1 year part time) and I have a DUI still on record. I still feel a little lucky. I mean, look at the unbelievable ####t companies most noobs seem to have to start with? Anyway, I have a question for you guys: How many weeks do you have to go without work before a company has to lay you off? I can make it even on unemployment, however, I CAN'T make it if I only work 1 day every 2 weeks.
-
not sure how that whole no weeks worked layoff works... I do know in NY you have to wait a week before you can collect... I just filed for it

When I was at Yellow I was never officially laid off. They would always give me at least one day a month. Just enough for me to pay my union dues. I never collected unemployment. I just got another job and told them to work me on the weekends. Did that for about 4 months and only got one day a month. So I quit my other job and went back otr.
Squonk, I agree you should stay where you are. Get some time in with one company. Even if they lay you off, you can just get unemployment. Since it's just you, you're in good shape.
ACH, good luck with DPW. That would be a good job. -
Well started a new diet plan with an online personal trainer... tells you what workouts to do, how to do it, what to eat how much and keeps track of calories and all. Wont be getting the exercise I was so I better start working out or will get too fat again. Cool thing is even when and If i get to return to work I can still do it. Oh well getting ready to work my second job tonight, had an extra opening but not looking foward to working till 4am

ACH, you still laid off?
