CRETE

You are required to chain up when the LAW says to chain up, you have the chains on your truck.
You are not FORCED dispatched, "Usually" you are offered 3 loads but a lot of times they have a particular load that needs to move so they only offer one, or they may have only one load available when you put in your empty call. I only ran New York (upstate) once in the six months I have been with them, I have only been to New Jersey once and that was just across the bridge from Philly.
I have spent most of my time in GA, PA, OH and IL. A lot of time in TX, NC and WI. I have driven in all states with the exeption of the NE like Maine, Michigan, Mass. etc.

Crete has chains on all trucks, but you are not required to run if chains are required. Safety is a priority with Crete and the safety department will support any decision you make. All you have to do is tell dispatch that road conditions are unsafe. You are the driver and are responsible for the safe opperation of your truck.

If the delay makes it impossible to deliver your load on time, the appointment will be reset with no repercussions toward the driver. Keep in mind that a reset delivery appointment may have you sitting for a day or two if the receiver (like Wal-Mart for example) is not flexible.


As far as Crete's 3 load offer. I still get them, but they are far less common than 6 months ago. Freight as a whole has slowed down and the options are not as plentiful. Currently, about 15% of my load offers have 3 choices, 25% give me 2 choices and the rest are single load offers. Earlier in the year about 50% of my offers had 3 choices.

As far as running the NE. YES, you will run the NE. Crete is a forced dispatch company. But with that in mind, I have been with Crete for 1year 4months and have never run a load into NYC or Long Island (you get $100 extra if you do) and have only had to cross the GW bridge twice on my way north to CT and ME. I've had load offers with Long Island runs, but have always had alternate loads offered. I have talked to other drivers that were less fortunate.

All in all, it seems to run in spurts. I've gone as long at 2+ months without going anywhere near the NE. But I've also had a stretch where I couldn't get past Chicago or Columbus without being sent back to the NE.

Currently I am on a run from the Boston area to Ontario, CA. 3100 miles. It's been nice running in the wide open west for a change. I could have done without the insane snow storm in UT though, had to be the thickest, heaviest snow I've ever seen while driving. It was rumored that there was a road in the area, but you couldn't prove it my looking out the windshield.

In short, Crete has it's flaws, but it's the best company I've ever been associated with.

And the paychecks are AWESOME!

 

why is it when reading these threads and ads that their is mention of NO NE, what is it about the NE that noone wants to go up there ?

 

No truck stops. n truck services. Stupid and Dangerous no ideling laws. Expensive toll roads and bridges.

just take your time in the NE, be safe out there, a load is never worth a life
