Hello - interested if you guys can provide info on who are the major bulk transporters of plastics operating in Western PA. I have come across A&R as well as Bulkmatic as larger companies nationwide, but neither seem to be a major operator in this region. Plastics are moving in this region from rail/transfer facilities, but dunno who is moving it. Possibly a regional or even a local carrier?

    Thanks for the info.

You're talking the plastic pellets that go to the various shops in western PA, right? Shops like C&J's or Maloney Plastics? Most of them get their plastics in large totes (called gaylords, it anyone is interested) delivered by LTL outfits like New England Motor Freight.

I know this from working for any number of plastics shops around here.

If you want Bulk transport in western PA, look at Modern in Portersville, PA. They do alot of sand hauling from Cleveland to PGW (formerly PPG) outside of Meadville, PA. From what I've heard, they're a pretty good outfit to run for, and their on E-Logs.

Select Service out of 84 seems to be pretty large, and possibly the inhouse hauler for the plastic plant here in Washington? I'm not sure about that, but they're there all the time.

I worked for A&R for 8 yrs. It was probably the best co. I ever worked for. Just remember there is a learning curve to every job. Don't get discouraged when things get tough. If you hang in there it will get easy and you will make money. Your not a number with A&R. PS: I'm coming back myself!!

I think A&R is your best bet in that region. You could work out of Columbus, Cleveland, Parkersburg,WV. Real good co. oh yea, Bulk Transit sucks!!
