It's simple....there is no shortage, never has been.
This is an advertising campaign tactic used by companies to bring in the untrained at lower wages. Keep the grist mill churning.
What business owner wouldn't jump at the chance to reduce his overhead? Simply join the ATA, and all things are possible. You even have a lobbyist in DC.
Drivers have ZERO advocates in DC.
In the drivers seat? Strike and see where that seat is located.
I'm amazed at the number of drivers who still haven't figured out what the impact of a strike would mean for them, and their families.
I'm also guessing that the majority have never had the opportunity to sit down with a "super patriot" Federal Officer and discuss the issue.

people dont see the larger picture
we need unions, drivers are against a union
we need lack of micromanaging, drivers are for micro managing
we need to communicate and netword, drivers dont even turn on their cb's
we need camaraderie, drivers dont even hold on traditional etiquettes amongst each other
whatever drivers need to do, they refuse to do, so we are our own worse enemies

we have a skill and we have tools, it makes little sense to use the bosses tools, he dictates the conditions, but if you have your own, you can choose when to work, how much to work and what you will not tolerate
its like renting an apartment vs owning a home -
