So as a Mercer driver (this is for anyone) Do you pull a flatbed or a step deck... and why?
-
do you find that there is sufficient flatbed freight in SC (particularly near Columbia) or do you find that SC is not a good flatbed state? -

yep i live 60 miles from augusta down US 25, i do ok in that area. but you only need a load there whenever you leave home. -
i couldnt answer if its worth it or not. i looked at it last year, but to me its some odd dang hours, it amounts to a lot of night driving and the loads cant leave til later in the evening. and ups has a tight tight time schedule. the pay is avg but theres no deadhead. me, i am to old for all that all night crap. -

And coming home of course right? -
logan, 2500 would wear me out, lol most weeks i am at 2000. this week for example unloaded monday night in houston, had a 20 mile deadhaead to load in houston,,, not a great paying load but 11,500 pounds of pipe 7 pcs and 2 fittings, was 1221 miles , dh 150 miles to chicago and loaded skidded coils to j,ville, fl 39,000 and 1021 miles , so from monday to monday 2391 miles and 4450 in revenue. but a easy week. used one 16 x 24 tarp on the coils.
