Gazoo Noise In KW Cab! What Is It?

I know of two new KW trucks around here with the same complaint. One guy even had duct tape everywhere trying to narrow down what it was. Last I heard from him he thought it was the seal around the windshield. It was on a new T660. If I see him any time soon I'll ask what the fix was if any.

 

Its the sun visor. Mine does the same thing. Kw added some spacers under the bolts on the out side. Helped a little. I am calling I am calling Paccar Monday either they fix what I feel is a safety issue or I'm reporting it CVSA as such. I couldn't even hear a Med unit last Thursday next to me. This is really pissing me off as you can tell. I traded my 98 INt 9400i in on this thing and it was a much better truck.

 

Our company runs KW, and a friend has this issue. Over the phone I can hear it, but he won't complain to anyone about it. Would like to know the fix myself since I am to get a new truck within the month.

 

One company I drove for had a new Sterling day cab that had such a whistling/roaring noise I could hardly stand to ride in it. I thought it was the mirror brackets. I taped pieces of cardboard over the frames to divert the air, no good. I taped the door shut and got in through the passenger door, no good.

Finally I cut another piece of cardboard and taped it to the back edge of the door and covered over the grab handles on the side of the cab. No more noise. That would be something else to look at.

 

mines does that with the window cracked or down... the window up its quite as can be but on the other side with it down it can be quite nerve racking

 

That's the seam around your mirror. Very annoying with the window down. Use some silicone to fill it smooth it with your finger. Goodbye whistle noise..

 

NO its not the seam around the mirror like the T600. I recently had WSP do a ride along with me to hear the noise and he contacted DOT. Kenworth is well aware of the noise coming from the sun visor on the T660 and that it travels from one side to the other. They recently added more spacers and it is better but still there. Washington DOT advised them it is a safety problem and must be addressed. There is a number you can get from KW to report the problem. However you have to be the owner of the truck because they will track the problem and ensure it gets taken care of. And call the person who filed the complaint. Have a great day, Taz
