I would always say to choose the w9 or 379. If you are going bran new get a glider. The engines they are offering today are all garbage. The only one worth anything, but is still a dog but good on fuel is the new Detroit DD15. But you can't get that in a pete or a kw. They are both good trucks, its just a matter of preference. Take care of them and they will outlast just about everything on the road.

Thank you,I am leaning towards an 04 pre accert,my biggest concern about the 9900 is re sale value you can get a 06 9900 for about the same money as a 04 peteor kw

If you go with the 04 model, try to avoid the "bridge" engines.

    You're buying a truck that's almost 10 years old.

Quit worrying about resale and buy what will do the job.

A truck is a tool. not an investment.

Are you going to be a truck dealer or an owner operator? If you are already thinking about selling it then don't buy it! Perhaps look at it like this, decide how many years you will pay it off over, and if you take care of it, being you are the driver, the extra years it will live because you have taken care of it are a HUUUUUUGE bonus. Just a couple days ago I saw an 85 KW looked like a w9 .. not sure what model they called it in those times, but the driver told me it was an 85. Still on the road earning money. Pulling a loaded flatbed, can't remember what was on it but I remember it wasn't heavy, he flew right up cabbage pass eastbound.

my favorite trucks are 379 petes, iv spent a lot of seat time in them i have also drove a few w9's they are both really nice trucks. personaly i like the 379's better as far as buying one though. at this time i don't see myself buying aether. you can buy more truck for less money in something else that will do the same job. as far as resale by the time i sell a truck it will be virtually worthless anyway. I would care more about specs and condition than make and model go for the best bang for your buck, to be the most profitable possible.

if it were me and paying cash for a truck, i would be looking at a mid 90's 379, speced the way you need it to be and replace what needs replaced,

rebulid it and drive it for ever

I had a 99 classic.sold when I went to local.Hated that job and started looking for another truck.I have a really good mechanic who went through the truck and gave me advice and what I needed.Automatic trucks have issues with y splitters, cat engines suck fuel and are a little more pricey on pms.If going used try not to get anything new then 07 due to engine changes.I looked at a w900 but the dealer wanted more for the truck then I thought it was worth.I eventually bought a used ryder truck.07 century with upgraded interior, fridge and a detroit.I was amazed how much easier backing up was.Dont need 40 acres anymore.good luck
