So I've been taking the CDL tests for my in classroom tests and to get my Class B permit (going tomorrow). I've been taking the endorsement tests (hazmat, tanker, air brakes) to learn about those. I decided to take the general knowledge test, which I've got down very well, then I noticed what I was taught was answered wrong on these tests. I even went through my NYS Commercial Drivers Manual to find the answer. Yup, the "correct" answer for the questions are wrong.
One example is Pre trip inspection, which one is NOT part of it? Check oil level, check horn(s), check air seat adjustment or check seat belt fastener. According to this manual, it is NOT check seat belt fastener (which is the "correct" answer). Theres a few others, but this is just one example.
I've gone through 4 GK practice tests before and have had this question multiple times. I dont know how accurate the other tests are, since I havent done as extensive studying as GK.
Sorry mods if this is in the wrong section. But just so people are aware, maybe this can be fixed. I'm trying to better my career and cant do that if I'm being taught wrong answers that could be on the permit test. Thanks.

My manual says in the pre-trip inspection check list...
Safety Belt
- Check that the safety belt is securely mounted, adjusts and latches properly.
Air ride seats are not required so that would be the correct answer.
Make sure you ain't looking at the school bus section which is added on at the end of the list.
If I were you I would be focusing on the practice questions at the end of each section in your CDL manual. You'll see about 90% of them questions again.
What's the other questions? -
Exactly. I picked the air ride seats. Says its wrong.
Another question is when are roads most slippery. I picked when it just begun raining. Says the answer is after 30 mins of light raining.
I'll get some screen caps of them and show them.Admin and CondoCruiser Thank this. -
I've been updating the tests over the past month, taking some questions out and adding new ones in. It's possible that some answers in the database were marked incorrectly during the process, I'd definitely appreciate you letting me know about any you've found.
CondoCruiser and ClassB Thank this. -

Ok, just fixed those on one of the General Knowledge tests, going through and double-checking some other things, then I'll duplicate the changes in the question database for the General Knowledge short quiz. I also have to check and see whether those questions made it into any of the other categories. I should be able to update the database by tonight.
Thanks for taking the time to locate the questions and let me know about them, ClassB. I really appreciate the work you and others have done to help improve the quizzes for the thousands of members that take them every month.CondoCruiser, ClassB and bullhaulerswife Thank this. -
Thanks for fixing them. I like seeing what I've gotten right/wrong. But it gets confusing when I got one wrong that I thought was right. So thanks for updating them.

I took them this morning before taking the real test. Still those answers were wrong.
bullhaulerswife Thanks this. -
I just uploaded the updated General Knowledge and Air Brakes question/answer databases around 3:30pm Eastern today. There were a few hundred questions that I was manually double-checking, and it ended up taking longer than I originally anticipated. Working on HazMat and Combination now.

I've actually use those CDL practice test. I usually read my CDL book and use this practice test. I passed general knowledge, air brake, combination vehicle, tanker, and double/triple.
My point is never set on one thing. Have 2 and cross references, and the test are ridiculous easy.Admin Thanks this.
