OMG!!! Let me tell you guys. I got plenty to ##### about with YRC. I have gotten to know ACH outside of here and he can tell ya. I've moved my family 4 different times to keep a job and taken paycuts and watched my pension get demolished. Don't even get me started. Lol. At the end of the day I'm thankful that the company is still alive and is able to employee so many of my fellow Teamster brothers. The checks are still in my bank account every Thursday and I'm not on the road weeks like I once was. As far as my seniority goes, even after nearly 10 years with this outfit I'm running sleeper teams. Money is insane but its a very grueling job. We left 309 on Monday and turned Phoenix. When we got back to 309 on Thursday they asked if we wanted to finish our bid ( turn Salt Lake) or take the rest of the week off. We decided to take the rest of the week off. This will give work to the junior guys on the extra board and give me some time at home with my family.

Well I don't like to gossip but what skinny said is true. I've heard the same from the old timers at my terminal, guys who been there 25+ years. But like skinny said everyone is lucky to still have jobs. NYCE (new York Carolina express) just went under so we should expect more freight soon

Holy crap. Found out a guy can retire from the Teamsters & STILL drive. No wonder none of these old timers are retiring. Well, this pretty much made my mind up. I will 'chill out' this Winter, but, once things pick back up this Spring, I will work my butt off and save a bunch money, all the while, searching for another company that is a better fit for me. I'm too old to basically work part time for the next 20 years. I'm too old. Oh well, too bad. I really like YRC.
ACH1130, you really might think about sticking it out if you can. You're young enough to do it. Once you get the seniority, you really have it made with this company. IDK about out there, but, Linehaul here is a really SWEET gig once you get 20 years in. -

Thanks for the pep talk ST. Sorry for pouting. lol I will probably continue to ask questions for awhile and I really appreciate it. I'm 50, and a rookie, so, I'm sure you can understand my concerns. Chances are, I will stay, I really like it here. There are quite a few guys who are supposed to retire soon, but, I was told, they've been talking this for quite some time. I don't mind paying my dues, I'm a big boy. I just am not able to pay any brutal long term dues. If things get better and better, I'm cool with that. If is the same for 10 years, nah, no thanks. I wish my 20 years as a union route salesman counted for something, but, I know it doesn't. I mean, I've paid my dues, just not with YRC, you know? Gotta start at the bottom again. *sigh* But, no matter what, I am ecstatic to be outta route sales and into transport, so, it's all good.
