Well, no.. the idea was that once a thread is created for a topic, it would be a simple matter to browse the thread titles for the one that deals with your specific issue. If you can't find a thread topic dealing with your specific issue, then you'd open up a new thread. You'd find yourself spending less time repeating yourself in the mega-thread, since past issues and answers would be much easier to find.

One support FORUM, with one thread per support issue.

    Edit

one posts, then edits the post ... adding a title.. think it would help in search?

Works fine on paper. In the 3 years I have been running the support thread I have seen other threads started and then create a life of their own going in all directions.

Again time is an issue also. I do this in an unofficial role. I do hold a full time job. I jump on this site when I have a few moments to see any anything needs attention.

Trying to provide assistance to 3-5 threads and new ones popping up almost daily I find many answers are related to all. Such as routing in NYC.

I am supporting this Thread only.

Currently there is a support thread, yet 4 other threads were opened in relation to TND issues.

If you do not find your answer to a question you have, my E-Mail is shown in my signature box.

In watching other posts most drivers do not look at page 1 of a section to see if a thread is started or not. They simply open a new thread. Answers are provided by other drivers. There are few "reps" on this website to support drivers.

Let's get this thread back on topic. I have mentioned my position a few times.

    thanks,
    Mark

What generates an app error msg ? Up dated - found nothing wrong - yet error msgs occurred before the update -

I had to do the worst case scenario. I was forced to send my TND 710 to the shop for repair. I just couldn't get it to power on. Now I'm back at the mercy of my Rand Mcnally atlas and MCP200 navigo.

on my 700 series, where one plugs in to charge it got so hot it can no longer take a charge, it powered up fine till the battery ran out, haven't sent it in yet nor have i mentioned it, also have a 500 series, this one has been getting the app error msgs, updated today and ran a diagnostics on it via the rand site - haven't used since doing so - i do like them, figured i'd have a back up or give it to family

I was going to complain that the 710 refused to route me over the GWB in NY today, but I changed it to 48' trailer and then it did. It wouldn't route when setting was 53' though.

Did you do the D/R under tools? When the Dock pulls it files from the server it stores them on your C:\. If a file is corrupt on this download then it will place a "bad" file on your TND.

It is best sometimes to delete the Cache folder, uninstall the Dock, Reinstall the Dock and let it re-download the files again.

If you are computer savvy I can tell you where this cache folder is. It is a hidden folder.

You should be on high speed internet for this.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Restriction on some roads in NYC are for 53' trailers. Usually I suggest changing to 48' if you need to get to a destination.

    thanks,

What is the serial number off the 700?

Did you get the 500 working?

    thanks,
    mark
