Thanks everyone for your advice. I'm going to Arnold Transportation out of Jacksonville, FL. US Express recently merged with them. Unless someone know dirty secrets about them. Merry Christmas!

Look at my Profile, We deliver a lot of steel to MN. Our drivers come from N. Michigan for the most part, and some out of Soo Canada also.
We are a Flat Bed co. for the most part. Some doubles and a few Tankers and 2 Dry Vans

What's the pet charge for? You are taking care of your pet, not the company. Are they scared you might get pet hair on their dash? ;)

Obviously you haven't seen pet damage done to trucks that employees have walked away from and left the employer with a huge expense.

This is very true.....but OTOH, Wiseguy is right. My dog moaps around until I go again. The moment I get her harness she just starts whimpering and whining....its kinda funny.

She loves riding shotgun up in the seat or at times in the bunk. Usually I have her restrained in the bunk but with enough room to go anywhere on the bunk but not off of it. We stop usually around 4hrs for breaks.

She's 65lbs and all I had to do to acclimate her to the rig was toss her up and in!

know what you mean hanad, first time i took my dog with me to do the beet harvest, which is a minature pinchure, he tried to jump out the first time we stopped, landed on the ground in the field, shook himself off, was ok, and learned real quick that it required me to pick him up to let him out. afterwards would just sit on the drivers seat, without his leash on by the way, and wait for me to pick him up and let him out. animals are very intellegent, no matter what some people may say. knida think might be more intellegent than some people.

I've been compiling a list of companies myself with the same criterion: newbie with pet. Here's the confirmed list:

    Prime
    Con-way
    Werner
    US Xpress
    FFE
    H.O. Wolding
    Watkins and Shepard
    WEL Trucking

Personally, I've ruled out the following:

Prime (was my 1st choice, but won't take me because I've been unemployed so long)
Con-way (way, way too many negative reviews from way too many sources)
FFE (publicly owned, and an LTL carrier - neither of which are pluses for me)
WEL Trucking (latest intel says they're great people, very nice - but the miles just aren't there)
H.O. Wolding isn't hiring in my area

So for me, I have to hope that W&S, USX or Werner will take me.

But even then - if you're a single guy with no family, like me .... I have NO IDEA how I will figure out what to do with my dog:
    W&S - for 90 days probation
USX - Also about 3 months, unless they allow at team trainer's discretion (doubtable)
Werner - don't know the scoop on them yet.

    abby Thanks this.
