Hey Cat, thanks a bunch for your input! That's the kind of questions that B has about Venezia, as well as everybody else.

Not cool that the work may not be steady all year -- support payments HAVE to be, dontcha know. No point in chasing down or wasting time looking into something that isn't going to work.

He's local/dump/home every night now. VERY unhappy. Been with DW 15 years (THIS time 'round) and hasn't had a raise in 7 YEARS. They keep cutting benefits, holidays, personal time, etc. -- all the while buying new equipment, scrapyards and so forth.

He's looking for the better $$$ offered by tanking fuel, likes being OTR and believes there's more to be made there, as well.

Well, thank you for the kind welcome, Marc, as well as some very valuable info!

He pretty much has his heart set on Haz. He runs through your neck of the woods from time to time, although most of what they do is more southerly.

I, too have seen a Venezia driver or two here -- as well as one or two with Superior, another company we’re looking at closely. I’ve left posts on their threads hoping to hear something from some of them.

I would also like to hear from drivers with A&R and Quality. I’m very curious about Gemini and Bulkmatic, as well.

Seems to me that's why he's looking more toward PA, NJ, etc. He has no problem with commuting.

    Here's the Grand Plan:

Drive 100-200 miles (or more) to the terminal. Hit the road (he would love to do 600 miles daily) and head home for the weekend.

    Pipe dream? Let's hope not!!!

There is a lot of propane and fuel coming out of.the port in Portland, Maine. Northern gas Transport runs over there year round to get it. Look north to nh/maine for a company

Well, the only thing I know about the Northeast , is that I hate going there. Tolls , traffic, winter. Snow. Dana , and Liquid Transport , ( Dana owns Liquid ) are heavy into that part of the country. I have been talking to Liquid. They are always ready ( almost ) , to take on O-O's , at least down here. They told me they have a lot of loads , from my area here , to the Northeast , and a lot of freight from Mass. Back down south.
As far as company drivers , IDK. Have you checked their home page ? As I recall , it lists which terminals are looking for people , and whether they want O-O's or co drivers.
I think , if you are a company driver , most companies would like to have someone who is willing to be out for 5 days at a time , but I also think very , very few good ones will guarantee that you will be home Every weekend. It's the Nature of the Beast, I guess.
    Good Luck !

Foodliner/Quest... nuff said. If he uses me as a reference and gets hired I'll split the bonus (*assuming there is still one). He'd likely be running out of Ayers or Worcester, MA but do a google search or just type foodliner.com and look around the site.

    *** Deep Breath ***

MANY, MANY THANKS ... Snow, PawPaw, and GAlanFink -- You guys are ALL amazing!!!
I truly appreciate your time, effort and trouble in offering suggestions and helpful advice. I'm putting together a "TO-CALL" list for Brian, beginning with these outfits :biggrin_255:

He's really good about following up on leads, so I know he'll be calling them all first thing Monday. That's a holiday for some folks, so might have to wait until Wednesday :biggrin_25510:

Since I fill his applications out online, I'll be sure to put you guys down as "Referred By" -- which is usually requested info.
If you will PM me your real names, I'll be able to do that. If you would rather not share such personal stuff, I understand.

Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!

Please let me know if you think of anything else ... Don't tell Brian, but I'm a little worried about his age. Maybe really good companies don't want older guys ...:biggrin_25521:
