Hello everyone. I'm headed to Dallas, TX to start orientation 1/15/12 with Schneider Tanker Division. If anyone is currently working for Schneider I would appreciate any information pertaining to your experiences with Schneider. I would also appreciate any suggestions about hauling tankers. This will be my first driving job after working in Law enforcement as a career.

Also, I will be driving to Dallas from Montgomery, AL. If you are headed to the same orientation let me know. Thanks.

Why are your driving? Will you get your truck assigned out of your terminal?
(Asking 'cause I'm considering the tanker division.)

hey im in kernersville, were neighbors! lol, anyway, im considering schneider tanker as well. I got my cdl from schneider in 05 when they still had the school. ive been away since jan of 06 doing flatbed dedicated work that has allowed me to be home everyday. I got my tanker and hazmat back in may and i need to start putting it to use! i figure schneider will train me the right way....not looking forward to otr work since ive never done it but you gotta do what ya gotta do to get some experience ya know?

They gave me the choice to either take a bus, which would be like 38 hours, or drive and they would reimburse me for the gas. I decided to drive. I'll be in Dallas for 11 days, then head to Reserve, LA for 2 weeks for training on the truck. I will then drive home for 4-5 days before picking up my truck at my home terminal in Bessemer, AL.

I went ahead and got all of my endorsements (hazmat, double-triples, tanker, TWIC card and passport) out of the way so I wouldn't have to worry with them later.

Thanks for all of the "good lucks" and responses so far!

    ladyfire Thanks this.

Will do...I'm looking forward to the experience. I'll let you know the ins and outs as they come. Start on the 15th so I'll write daily once it gets here...
