In 1985 I made 171/2 cents a mile pulling flatbed and when I hooked to the reefer they paid percentage but it came out to about the same 18 cents a mile. The good old days with no power steering.

started driving ready-mix in Chicago suburbs in 2000 for $14.00/hr , that was 70% of scale at the time. was over 30/hr when i got laid off in 2010

1982 in a 73 cabover international with a 318 detroit and a 13 speed and 4:11 years 2100 rpms was 70mph LOL. and i was paid the big sum of 15cpm running cheese and chickens. cheese out of Minnesota to the caves in Carthage, MO. and then chickens out of Arkansas back up north. and like the other guys said no power steering, no air either conditioned or ride.
