Yeah, that's why the comapny is called "Swift Travel Agency" :biggrin_25523:

The truck goes where the customer's freight goes!

Dispatchers have access to load boards and brokers, no? So knowing that a trucker wants long loads what would the problem be?

The dispatcher sends the load to you, it's all figured out long before he sees the load.

Again, trucks go where customers freight goes.

Then that's not really a dispatcher but a "load assigner." A real dispatcher finds loads for his driver. I never drove for a mega carrier so don't really know what it's like. I did however drive for small carriers who ran regular lanes.

Where I drove the dispatchers (and small extent drivers) decided where we ran.

No sir! Not at all! You get what you get, and you take what you can. A lot of the loads are 600-700 miles. The long loads are given to teams and trainers. I got lucky with that $1400+ check. Had a 2250 mile load, 2200 mile load and a 700 mile load that landed on that check. That is not at all common.

No, its what loads they have is what you get unless your on a dedicated route. That was why they posted "it all depends". They can't hand you a long haul if there isnt a long haul in your area now can they?

    Sheriff1/6 Thanks this.

Somehow my dispatcher always found a long haul when I was running Chicago to Los Angeles. Be it back to Chitown or further like Toronto or somewhere in Ohio. Where there is will there is a way. At least that's how it worked at the small company I worked at.

Well, then you're wasting your time, talent and ability. You should be back there.

Thanks but money is not everything. I need to have a life outside the interstate :)

That's because you were lucky enough to be operating out of major cities. More areas for more freight going a long distance.
