I was chatting with someone at work and they told me that we would be hiring up to 800 additional drivers in the northeast region to help with bids won for C & S accounts throughout the northeast region. This is an article I found online that confirms it.

I hope it turns out well for JB but I know from talking to other drivers that this is a very hard acount to work for.
Good luck to all that apply! I wish you well and look forward to seeing you on the road.

JB took over the blue seal feeds plant near me. They ran a private fleet for years. Don't know what happened but it didn't last long , blue seal now runs lily rental tractors... Not a JB truck in site.

The news story I read said the company that had it before only had 5000 dollars in assets. They rented all their trucks and trailers with that high an overhead and so few assets that account was ripe for the picking for a better managed company .

Most grocery companies do this. The outsourcing of transportation dept. lets the grocery companies focus on what their real intent and business is and out from under the costs & liabilities of a transportation department. Trucking companies then bid against each other every 4 years or so for this contract. Greatwide wins many of the contracts. YRC used to until they sold the logistics division. The drivers still make good money considering they are home almost every night and most weekends.

JB Hunt did win the contract for C&S which means they will be in Brattleboro VT, North Hatfield MA, Windsor Locks CT, Newburg NY, Chester NY, York PA and Edison NJ. Cowan won the contracts for Aberdeen MD and Westfield MA, and I heard Ruan is getting DuBois PA.
So far JB Hunt has offered to look at taking the current drivers at these facilities but not all will meet their criteria. They will be "grandfathering" the drivers who they take on but the pay system is different and the health insurance is much more as the family run company that lost the contracts covered a huge portion of the health insurance costs themselves. Overall any driver staying with the job will be looking at making 8-10K a year less than they currently do.
I wish all the former company drivers who end up staying on with JB Hunt much luck as they will need it. So far they refer to people as W-2's which doesn't show they care about the drivers much. -
10k pay cut nice! -
