It's not a DOT requirement to actually receive verification of employment; the only requirement is that you must document that you tried. A letter to Eleets returned undeliverable will satisfy the employment verification requirement.

Would you or anyone else know who to contact to get a driver verification? I have drivers that are getting turned down for jobs because the company they are applying with can not get any verifications for employment. Thank you if you can help.
-
DOT requires carriers to request proof of employment from companies where the applicant has worked for the past 3 years. For CDL driving jobs, the period is extended to the last 10 years.
The link to the investigation regulations is HERE.
The companies your drivers are applying to have the freedom to waive verification from Eleets since they are out of business. If they will not waive that requirement, then your drivers will probably need to seek employment elsewhere. -
This is what they will have to do. The company in particular they are trying to get hired on at is asking for the verification for employment. No one can give it from Eleet. Therefore, I will not pursue drivers that have worked for them due to that problem. If anyone finds a way to contact someone at Eleets that is willing to give employment verification from Eleets let me know. Otherwise these drivers are screwed. It's asd that a company would leave these drives hanging like that.

It is likely that they person that is doing the verification doesn't understand the regulations and I would move it up the chain of command at the company. -
Bill is correct, any documents will satisfy if a company is no longer in business.

Unfortunately, this company will not accept those and I agree with you guys. That should be sufficient enough, but it's not. I feel really bad for him and it makes my job even tough when it comes to recruiting. Thanks for all the input on this.

Of course, in this job market there seems to be little need for outside recruiters.BigBadBill Thanks this. -
I have done everything possible to find out information about this company. Why do you think I am here asking. I have called companies that were partnered with Eleets and unfortunately because Eleet was the main company, they took all records with them. I am very successful in what I do and being an "outside" recruiter as you call me doesn't have anything to do with it. I've even called IRS to see if I can get any information because the drivers are now concerned about their 1099's and if they will receive them. We don't even know who is handling their book keeping. They quietly shut their doors on these guys and left them hanging. So...sir if you think you know more or better then have at it. The company they are applying for regardless of the regulations is asking for the verification's and there's not more i can do.
