What is considered as a major accident?
What is considered a preventable accident?

major? one example 1 of vehicles towed away or injury
preventable? hitting a yellow pole(known to jump out of nowhere). or anything that you could have done to prevent the accident. ie. got out and looked. checked once more.

At my company we have what is called accident or incident. For instance, if you were to back into the loading dock and hit another trailer or someone else hits you at the dock then that's an accident. If you knock down a overhead wire or hit a tree branch and it puctures the trailer than that would be an incident.

like you brokedown somewhere? I wouldn't think that would be considered an accident unless you hit something and then brokedown.

If you just brokedown because the truck threw a fit it should not be marked as an accident.

i got winched out drove off on my own.
    how it happened
[FONT=&quot]got stuck on side of the road in jasper Texas on 68e I believe it was they have a low clearance 12'6 that I didnt see till I made the left turn. there was enough room to turn around safely i could see in both directions so i put on hazards and postition my truck slightly off the road and no power the ground was soft an muddy slid diff nuthin, other trucks had made the same turn I could tell from the tracks on the ground but I'm the one that gets stuck. tried to rock it out didnt work then digged (no shovel) to try and get tire loose but too deep. so I called dispacth they tell me to call road serv. long story short they say it may be a chargable cause i cant turn around where i was cause of two lane road. Ive turned around in far smaller places and still had to turn around when I got pulled out the tow guyz even said it wasnt my fault cause ya dont see the sign at night till ya make the turn. no damage to property equipment or anything else. what wolud they rather I just go under a low bridge and tear it up? I sure wanted to after he told me it could be a chargeable accident.

well as a tow truck driver, I get calls all the time from the safety departments for vehicles which I have had to winch out of the mud, ditchs or other places...
I also get calls about minor accidents where there is no real damage, yes I know that a bent bumper is damage, but after I pull it out and they drive off the trucking company does want to know what I saw there..

After all I am on the scene and looking at things (and sometimes pictures) and can provide a nice objective view of the scene... Yes I am getting paid by the trucking company, but my mind is made up when I get there, or how the driver acts when I am there...

And yes I do also believe that "every accident / incident" is preventable...

After all if the sales person did not accept the load then the truck would not be here in trouble!!!!!!
