Like pete said, "most schools" i'm in a private school in Minnesota and they allow you to re-take with no penalty. Although I have only seen one so far that had to go back, they were very accommodating about it. Here in MN however, we are somewhat limited by the Dept. of Transportation. They don't give out testing slots easily, and often times you have to wait a week or two.
I have read a couple stories about a few unlucky folks that have failed the first time and were unable to take it again due to their school not cooperatingWannaB_trucker Thanks this. -
is very important to establish that they will b4 you fork over any money. any REPUTABLE school builds retesting into the cost. any school that does not allow for retesting is stealing, period. ANY school that is teaching a skill, whatever it is, has an obligation to retrain and retest if they are going to accept your money. skills are learned more easily by some than by others.
Elendil and WannaB_trucker Thank this. -
Some will actually go as far as saying you are guaranteed to pass! Usually if you have to retake the test though they will make you wait a day. I think you can only take the test once a day.
Either way it isn't rocket science and I really wouldn't stress about the test that much. Pay attention in school, memorize your pretrip stuff and make sure you have a decent feel for behind the wheel and you should be fine.WannaB_trucker Thanks this. -
In Missouri, you can only get three tries at the road test in a calendar year. So in some cases it might not be up to the school that's teaching you if you can retake the test over and over again.

In my case, I failed twice (stupid on 1st, bad luck on second... avoiding a cutoff by a 4 wheeler, clipped a curb). The school covered the 1st re-test, I paid for the second. The school provided extra practice at no cost.
