There is such a thing as a learning curve. Id rather have a guy driving one of my trucks who learned how to drive in his late teens with 10 years of experience over a guy who learned to drive in his 30's with 20 years of experience. But what would I know. Im only a Lumper who can occasionally drive

You say you will not hire a guy from school yet you say (later in post) that you are talking about this post is directed towards newbies... To me that is contradicting what you started with. Your attitude is going to make you a lot of enemies on this forum. Just my 2 cents.

How many guys pay a lot of money to those schools just to get their CDL without having actual real life driving skills? Too many for my liking.
