Keep on trucking Dragon. if the truck bugs ya too much with breakdowns, then ask them for another one. You can take a look at my first few weeks to see how bad my 1st truck was. Drove me nuts constantly sitting in shops, or heading to them!

No.... missing home doesnt get any better. But you do learn what your limits are, and how to deal within them.

Others may joke about our "old equipment", but I just laugh... they are usually sitting somewhere....waiting endlessly for a load... in their "new" trucks...

I like my old 07. She's all set up and does ride nice. I shouldn't complain. I am in Vegas getting paid to sit in a hotel. Ok, yeah i can. If I'm sitting the company ain't making money and i like doing my part. The rest will take some time to get used to. I don't mind doing 4-2, or 3. Makes going home way more appreciated. I'm going to call in tomorrow if its going to be a minute on repairs as the shop says and ask for at least a temp truck. Had a ld out of NV to la, CA which would have got me home. So i cant say they weren't trying. Truck just decided it had gone as far as it wanted..lol

So far i can't complain about the miles, unless your stuck in sfs...lol, some have been short but I've gotten a ld right away. I am happy that i got the truck in the Volvo shop here. It was not a fun run over the Rockies on ice. No power, gvwr over 77000, and i know this as a no no but the only way to slow down and maintain a safe speed was to vet down to 6th and cycle the jakes off and on so not to get down with no brakes left. Let me just add when it became icy i got to a safe spot and shut it down. Nice view of the Colorado river at the rest stop at exit (i believe is correct) 194 wb I-70. Of course i was trying to peel the seat out the rest of the night. Lol. But after what the shop said was wrong with the truck and it's just what is wrong as far as they had gotten, I'm glad it got here

Yah, I was just in Denver the other day..Thursday I think...? It snowed pretty good, I can imagine the Rockies were fun, I do the same with the jake on low, on n off, if your going real slow and it's cold outside, you can hover your foot on the brake n they won't smoke up, that's what I do...of course I always go too slow on ice n snow, I don't ever want to find out what's too fast..lol, I'm in billings Montana right now, what's ur truck number, I'm 2008

1980. Yeah i got up to some nice sun so i ran the rest of it. Got here and the shop guy couldn't understand me when i was trying to say i couldn't hold my weight back unless i was down in 6th and using my jakes and i didn't want to do it over ice. He gave me the funniest look. Simple to me. No way to keep truck slow down a grade, please fix..lol.

Im sure someone will pipe up and tell me im doing something really wrong, but... my trick for cruising down icy hills is to turn the diff lock OFF, and use the jake.... in theory, if the jake slides, it wont cause both rear drive axles to slide, Just one, and I will be fine.
::Shrug:: Theory seams to be holding up to reality so far. well.... it either works, or its because im going sooooooooo slow at that point. lol.
ice and wind are the two things that really worry me when driving.

SFS aint my favorite terminal, because I inevitably end up ariving on a friday, and being stuck through a weekend. Has happened several times. Also parking there is a chore, unless you drop your trailer. And if you do that, it can be a pain finding an empty when your ready to leave. The shop there has been good to me though. no matter how busy they have been, they seam to be able to find a slot to put my truck in and take care of whatever I needed fixed. And, no matter what is being fixed, or how long it takes, they have always managed to keep my truck "liveable", so that I can sleep in it instead of having to stay in the terminal.

I agree with you on SFS I've gotten there on Friday and couldn't get a load till Monday and then i end up staying up all day just to get a load that picks up after 10. The shop guys a pretty cool and will pretty much try and do what ever they can for you. But like one of em told me, their just maintenance guys. If it's major plan a vacation cause last time i was stuck a week there. A lot had to do with the holidays and it sucked being stuck there when home was only 600 miles away.

Yeah. Im based out of Modesto also, So I know how that goes. Before the holidays I went out on a 3 month tour. Got to SFS on a Friday on my way towards home, and my fiance threatened to just drive down to LA if I got stuck. Thankfully I didnt, and saved her the trip. lol.
As for what they call "major" repairs, your gonna have to read my saga of repairs to the 05 freightliner that was my 1st truck. The 08 Volvo I have now has been very good to me, and not broken anything that took more than a couple of hours to fix.
Speaking of SFS, going to be there tomorrow afternoon, so I expect to spend the night there. lol. If ya see me stop in and say hi, truck 2070.

Yeah Modesto is my home terminal too. I live in Fresno. Looks like i may be stuck here in Las Vegas for a few. It all depends on how long it takes to fix my truck. Heck i think it would be much cheaper to get a bus ticket home, call me when the truck is ready to go, bus back and hit the road running. My thoughts only and it give me my home time
