    Hey,

I am a fresh out student with a CDL license coming out of a truck driving academy and as for right now, i am searching for a truck company to start out with that has a decent reputation to start out with. Now i have been reading on this forum about peoples comments from what they have seen and experienced. If anyone knows a good company to start out with, please do so and also let me know what you think whats best, the advantages and disadvantages. Thank you

Any starter company is your best place to start, many people have bad exp with a company and come on here to vent but you can't stop that letting you look into those same companies. Most of your so call "Good companies" required prior exp but there companies out there that are good and hire newbies. As a newbie you can't be real picky you gotta start somewhere, when searching for a company you need find out some things like: do they hire in your area, what's there training pay and how long is the training program,do they hire students from the trucking school you attended too, what's there cpm pay after training, what's is there home time like, how offen do you get home.Questions like those you need to ask companies when looking into them,a lot of your starter mega carriers get bad raps cause a lot of newbies get into trucking and find out its not for them,so its the carrier fault not there's.Now not all these mega carriers are best but its a job,its a foot in the door, its the exp you will get while there. After about 6-12 months of OTR experience more doors will open but you gotta start some where.Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Check out epes transport, hire out of select schools. People retire from here.

excellent advice. So many are just too picky and this day and age,it does'nt pay to be picky.Companies could care less if you stay or not.If you choose to be a quitter that's your choice but you're only hurting yourself.Every company has flaws. No matter how hard you look, how many good reviews you hear, you're not going to find that perfect company.Like you said,we all have to start somewhere. It's best to pick a company and stick with it for a good yr to get the exp.Because if you quit, all you'll find on the other side is weeds.

A bit more info like where do you live would help. Do you want OTR or regional work? Start looking at some of the larger companies that have a training program (on truck trainers). Roehl, Swift, JB, Werner are a few that take on new CDL holders. Look over site. Lots has been posted on these carriers.

Pays on Friday, The boss is always right. If its plumbing, everything rolls downhill and don't chew your fingernails. Go to one, get a year in and see if you want to stay. Equip should be in great shape, run 75 MPH out west, and you should be loaded all the time and running. Sould pay downtime after 24 hr, motels, and home time, not the "guaranteed" home time but really. I worked for a comany and we got 2 days off a week. You would come home Friday at midnight and go out Sunday at midnight. Ran 300,000 miles a year team driving and dropped and hooked in Seal Beach CA or Port Chicago CA. Took 58 hrs from OKC to Seal Beach and back. You were always tired and up all night bouncing off the ceiling back when I 40 wasn't finished in Az. It was gritty work and we had short Freightliners and about half did'nt have AC. We knew everyone who did the LA turn out of Amarillo or OKC and on east by handle but not names.
